Perfect replacement
Like a number of other reviewers I only purchased this product as I needed a replacement top ‘gubbins’ for the existing shower trap. A perfect replacement. It has only a plastic coated chrome finish on the top, however my original unit (which came with a very expensive walk-in shower was only of equivalent quality). Really superb value for money, so much so I shall be ordering a second for my other shower. Cannot fault it. Naturally at this early stage cannot comment on the longevity of the product.

Necessary if you need to replace your chrome hair trap
When the teeth in the chrome lid of our shower hair trap broke, we only then realised that this part is not replaceable and that the complete unit was discontinued. So we bought this one - slightly different style. We didn't want the hassle and cost of removing the current unit so only replaced the inner part with the chrome hair trap. Although the chrome hair trap doesn't sit flush with the shower tray and is slightly raised, it does the job and is hardly noticeable. It was a cheaper and easier solution to replacing the hair trap.

Watertight, but the chrome seems fragile.
I used the wrong type of cleaner on very similar unit installed in my shower, and as a result partially stripped the chrome finish off the top. This one had the right "top" on it to replace the one I had ruined, so was a cheap and easy replacement. I suspect that the one I ruined was probably exactly the same as this one. So, be aware that using anything abrasive or even remotely chemically "strong" (eg Toilet bleach, to clean out the trap and get rid of bad smells) will ruin it if it gets on the chrome top. Should you need to clean out the trap take the top off first and put to one side.Given the price I have no complaints, and all I needed was the top part.
