Following a very prompt delivery I can report that these boots are superb, having tested them out in heavy rain this morning when walking the dog. I am very grateful to those who took the time to give a comprehensive review and can report that they are extremely comfortable and 100% waterproof. Please note: Amazon recommended size UK8 but my previous 'Dickies' were UK7 and for me, choosing the latter was the correct choice. Looking at the build-quality, I am confident these boots will last for years but just to make sure, the Dubbin I ordered arrives today.

This is the third time I've ordered these Black Hammer boots simply because they are the best fitting I've found. The wider fitting makes them more comfortable than other boots and they don't make my feet ache to the point where I can't wait to get them off. I use these for work every day with no problem. As for wear and tear, they only last for about 8 or 9 months in my job before the upper starts splitting away from the sole. That seems to be the trend with each pair I've bought, but for me that's not too much of an issue as they're reasonably priced making them relatively cheap to replace. Comparing to a slightly cheaper pair of Black Hammers I once bought which have orange trim on them (Which I also left a review on here), these ones are the better ones and literally only a couple of quid more expensive. The inner sole is cushioned which means buying separate insoles for these is optional. Of course, after many wears the cushioning is no longer doing its job and you may want to insert separate insoles, but as I wear thick work socks I don't notice it too much and by that time it's getting to the point where I need to replace them anyway because of the sole splitting away issue. I can get new boots issued at work for free, but I do prefer these Black Hammers so I'll just keep ordering them again and again.

Over the last 5 years I've bought these boots multiple times - daily all day use for dog walking in all weathers. I work them extremely hard and they tend to last me 6-9 months before a) the bootie starts coming away from the sole and b) the toe cap leather cracks through along the creases that slowly forms over the months where your feet flex. I assume it's repeated wet > dry > wet cycles that causes this.I really like these boots - I get the security of steel toe caps, they are very comfortable to wear, and keep my feet dry (well until they start failing as described earlier). The older model used to fit true to size even with hiking socks, the recent newer model I needed to go up 1 size.I'm quite happy rebuying them when they fail, rather than gambling that a more expensive pair would do any better.

If you want a real review after a month of 10 hour days in proper safety boot conditions here it is….I work in a rail yard and it’s not just a normal rail yard it’s a steam heritage railway so it’s pretty much 1850s conditions, odd bit of concrete here n there but mostly a bomb site with undulations uneven constantly something changing under foot surfaces (see my pictures) with lots and lots of dirt scrap metal oil and detritus strewn everywhere, it’s just how it is and part of the reason steam died…I’ve always been a jcb boot man, they were nice and that’s what I bought for a long time but I got fed up of £65 here n there on something I destroyed and thought I’d try these…I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING ELSE FROM NOW ON!!!!Absolutely outstanding these boots, they would look almost new if I wiped them, if you look at my pictures the seams are still tight like new and this is after a month of proper wear and tear, my Jcb’s that I’ve adored for the past few years would look second hand and beaten up by now.Comfort - second to none, again beat my Jcb’s by a long way!!! I suffer from pain in my heals so I need a lite boot and these give me zero grief!!! A massive massive relief when I get up in the morning and put my feet out the bed on the floor (if you know you know what I’m talking about)I’m staggered at the price of these boots because what I put them through daily and the way they look after 5 weeks is amazing!!!!Honestly, don’t waste money on fancy stuff with a name just get these and save money!! They’re comfortable all day long waterproof and hard wearing

Boots won’t win any fashion parades but they were comfortable from first wearing, which is unusual for work boots especially steel toe caps.My feet are sized 9 but I ordered a 10 and they fitted perfectly with thick work socks.Only thing is I find the inside of the soles hard for my feet compared to my previous boots or I would have given 5 stars.Maybe I have sensitive feet but I would have liked a slightly more padded insole. Otherwise great for the price.UPDATE: The heel has crumbled to nothing after 6 months rendering boots unusable. They have been leaking for about the last 6 weeks also. I have worn them every day thopugh, so up to you if you feel 6 months is okay for £35. I think I will try a different brand this time to compare.

I've brought two pairs of these shoes now. Considering I wore them full time on the job from 9-5 the first pair lasted me about 3 years in fairly rough conditions.It's only when the water proofing went and the rubber undersoul started to pull away at the toes did I actually see the steel plate that runs along the length of the shoe.Despite what appears to be a 1mm steel plate and thick kevlar toe cap, these aren't much heavier than any other hiking boot or shoe, no where near the weight and discomfort of steel toe-caps.The innersoul material has improved from my last pair, it's got some grippy, compressible cross section material which is comfortable and doesn't let your foot slip around.I'm usually a size 10.5 but these fit me fine as size 10s. Really recommend them, if you're wearing them full time you'll get years out of them, even if you don't take care of them.Haven't found a better shoe, definately at this price range.

I'm a landscape photographer who often wander in extreme conditions. The boots, as adversed, provided me a sturdy grip in most surfaces, had enough water protection for me to walk through muddy surface. It allowed me to reach usually hard to reach areas with ease. So here are a few shots that I got when wearing these boots. And the best thing is that it's cheap enough to make it expendable when necessary. 5 stars.

Excelentes botas. Las uso para ir a la montaña, caminar sobre superficies muy humedas, cruzar rios entre rocas llenas de musgo, por horas y horas de marcha/ Nunca se me mojan los pies, y son muy comodas/ Recomiendo comprar un numero mas grande//

good comfortable, a bit hot on the foot

Tja, was soll ich sagen. An und für sich sehr gute Schuhe. Die Füße schmerzen auch nach einem langen Arbeitstag nicht.Aber die Haltbarkeit!Ich bin Kfz-Mechaniker und habe die Schuhe durchaus 12- 14 h pro Tag an den Füßen. Nutze sie auch nach Feierabend und auch am Wochenende im Hobbybereich.Seit Mitte November `18 habe ich sie und jetzt Ende Februar ist das Oberleder am rechten Schuh über der Sohle an der Knickstelle des großen Zehs auf ca 4 cm Länge gerissen. Wasser und Kälte sind Tor und Tür geöffnet.Mit mindestens einem halben Jahr Haltbarkeit bei meinem Nutzungsprofil hatte ich gerechnet.Daher die wenigen Sterne.Ganz dicke Ergänzung: Hab die Sterne auf 5 erhöht.Mein Anfangstext stammt vom Februar `19.Ich hab die Dinger reklamiert, war eine sehr gute Kommunikation trotzdem die Firma aus GB kommt. Nach ein paar übermittelten Schadensbildern bekam ich anstandslos Ersatz. Diesen Ersatz habe ich bis heute getragen. Ich such grad noch aber werde wohl diese Schuhe wieder bestellen.Das Ersatzschuhpaar vom ca März `19 ist jetzt , Ende September `20, vollkommen verschlissen, d.h. Sohle inklusive Metalleinlage gebrochen, Nähte lösen sich auf.. Die Stelle, die ich beim ersten Paar reklamiert hatte , ist noch in Ordnung.Bei meinem Nutzungsprofil ( siehe oben) find ich das völlig in Ordnung.Gut, ich will nicht verschweigen, dass ich mir im Reklamierungszeitraum noch ein anderes Paar Arbeitsschuhe bestellt habe, einfach weil ich drauf angewiesen war. Dies waren Safety Jogger Climber. Ich hab nach Möglichkeit dann immer mal gewechselt um die Schuhe zu lüften und so. Tatsache ist, dass auch die Climber jetzt vollkommen hinüber sind.Wie gesagt , ich trage meine Arbeitschuhe aber auch zwischen ca. 10 und 15 am Tag, da ich sie auch in meiner Hobbywerkstatt nutze. Damit wird geschweißt, geflext, lackiert, Ölwechsel gemacht und , und, und...Erhöhung auf 5 Sterne deshalb, weil auch der Preis dafür stimmt.Die Schuhe meiner Kollegen, die durchaus auch bekannte Namen tragen, halten auch nicht länger, kosten u.U. aber deutlich mehr.
