Festool 500483 D 27-BSD Drilling Dust Nozzle, Amber

Wow, this is a fantastic product, even drilling outside brickwork it leave no dust, connected up to my Bosch pro dust extractor and away we go.

This nozzle has changed my working life. I'm constantly drilling into upper window recesses, with SDS masonry drills. I push this nozzle onto the hose of my ancient standard Henry hoover and the Festool nozzle sucks itself onto the ceiling holding the weight of the entire 2.5m Henry hose extending vertically. The drill sleeve of the nozzle sits about 3mm away from the surface so you can see your drill bit from the side as you place it on the spot or pilot hole where you want to drill. Alternatively, place the drill bit through the nozzle drill guide before sucking it on to the ceiling, place your drill bit then raise the nozzle up around the drill bit and allow it to suck into place after the drill bit already has contact with the ceiling. You can batter away without a care with your SDS drill, with both hands, and the nozzle will suck away all dust and debris. I did notice a few mortar crumbs on the window sill afterwards, they were less that 1mm in diameter and not dusty, they were perhaps pulled out with the plunging action of the SDS and had enough mass to escape the suction hole, however, they may have fallen out of previously drilled holes nearby from the vibration of the SDS. The nozzle is also slim enough to fit even narrow window recesses and you can position the drill guide right into a corner to drill holes for a roller blind bracket pushed right up into a recess corner. The dense foam gasket is squishy enough that I do believe the claims that it handles fairly smooth brick also, yet to be tested. If you only need to put the nozzle on a vertical surface with the hose hanging straight down, the angled elbow on the nozzle is easily removed. This Festool nozzle is so amazing that I've recommended it to my Ex and bought two more for colleagues. Top marks Festool, unfortunately I bought it for 30 quid and now it's 20 quid.

This is a great addition to my SDS drill. I always used to get the wife to help and hold a dustpan and vacuum nozzle underneath any masonry holes being drilled indoors. It was always a juggle for space and didn't work very well. This changes that.I've just drilled 32x 6mm holes for some IKEA shelving brackets, using this Festool nozzle with my workshop vacuum, which is essentially a Henry. The vacuum fits well without any tape or similar, with the right-angle removable section that came with the Festool nozzle being removed and not required in this case.On my lining-paper covered walls the nozzle held in place every time. At the end of the job, I literally did no extra cleaning. One of the photos I've added shows the collected brick dust on the white skirting boards after drilling 8 holes in a vertical line above it.My drill's depth stop works past the side of the nozzle without issue.I would say that the air does make a fair bit of noise in the nozzle, but then drilling holes in bricks does too so no problems with ear defenders to help.I also ordered a Bosch setup at 3 times the price of this, but didn't even open it as this is just what's needed. This Festool part is also small enough to fit in my drill's box for next time, unlike other larger styles.If you have a momentary trigger vacuum, like a handheld Dyson for example, this might not be quite so useful as of course the dust collection would then not be hands free.Buy one of these Festool nozzles if you have a suitable vacuum. At £20 it's ideal.

Very surprised that these aren't advertised/punted more - my wife likes hanging photographs which I can now finally do without the mess. No airborne dust, at least not what I could tell, so no major cleanup or dust irritants arise from the drilling.But be careful as they do tend to store some of the dust in the cavities etc to the cup (bad design) which may dirty when the unit is removed from the wall.They do leave a bit of a mark on the wall which usually wipes off.Thats the only reason for the one star mark down.

This works very well. I did have high hopes but it works much better than expected.

Wished I’d bought this sooner, seen it for ages but always put off by the price, tried and bought cheaper versions…wish I hadn’t!Great little piece of kit, and is compatible with most vaccums thanks to a very clever design, obviously best with a Festool vac but sometimes you don’t always need that on the job.Worth every penny!

Question - Why would you buy such a such thing?Answer - To save your marriage.Let’s say drilling holes indoors, is never a good thing. Just imagine doing this after ‘better-half’ has sent days painting and you need to drill a few holes into plaster/brick. Yes, I know I should have done this before walls were painted, but we don’t all have a reliable crystal ball.Thee old tape an envelope underneath to catch the dust/fallout while drilling, only works if tape you have isn’t going to risk damaging freshly painted walls. Plus how do you clean out the hole you’ve just drilled to allow plugs and screws to be inserted without getting it everywhere - vacuum, I hear you say…if only you had a tool that could connect upto your vacuum cleaner to make life easier.So this short, if you want to save your marriage while drilling holes and that cleans up as you go along, then this is for you.If you’ve read this far, then hopefully you’ll know you will need to connect this upto a vacuum cleaner - useless if you don’t. Shark upright hose attachment to the rescue (other brands will no doubt do just as good a job)Ease of use:Accepts multiple different thicknesses of extension hose. Why did you choose this product over others?:It’s festool, could never afford/justify their power tools, but can at least say you now own a festool :)

I don’t write product reviews often, but felt the need to rave about this fantastic product. I do quite a lot of DIY at home, including drilling, and this thing is a game-changer! I really don’t know why I didn’t get it sooner; it could have made life so much easier considering the amount of drilling I’ve done in the past! No more dust and debris getting in your face, leaving you to focus on the job at hand. It stays on the wall very well (by suction) allowing two-handed drilling, so no assistance required. Better yet, little to no cleaning up to do post-drilling as all the stuff you usually hoover up from the skirting board, floor and furniture ends up in the hoover WHILST drilling. Probably my best DIY purchase in a long time.

werkt perfect met mijn Festool stofzuiger, om heel netjes te werken bij het boren van gaten in de muur of plafond. Top uitvinding. werkt nog beter dan enkel stofzuiger aan het te boren gat te brengen. 👍

Verschillende stofzuiger slangen en mondstukken passen door de flexibele aansluiting.

Works well, item works perfectly with my Bosch dust extractor.Very nice attachment to keep a customers house clean when drilling drywall, tile or masonry.Also, this is a rebranded product by Starmix, another German based company.Item is made in Germany.FYI the standard Bosch dust extractor hose connector (VX120) fits perfectly.

C'est sans doute le meilleur achat pour moi cette année. Il est vraiment ultra efficace ! Petit, mais tellement pratique, il suffit d'avoir un bon aspirateur, ça tient sur le mur comme au plafond. Avec mon aspirateur, j'ai zéro poussière, un bonheur ! En même temps c'est du Festool ! Ça tient la route.
