So I wanted to be able to wash my hair and it just air dry and look decent. I posted my before hair when I wash it and I just hated it. I usually wear my hair up because it was so hard to manage. I refused to cut it short because it looks so bad short because it’s so thick. Long story short I was not sure if this product would work on my hair. I was very nervous to try it but was ready to let my hair fall out if it didn’t work. I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this product. I purchased the 4 step process and had my sister do my relaxer at home. I think the photos say it all. I can now wear my hair down and not be miserable. I’m so glad I tried this product, I will definitely be using it from now on.

Although I have only used it once, I like it, but will have to wait to have a detailed opinion. My assessment of it will be completed in 12 months since I stretch my relaxers out. Thankfully, it didn't burn at all, but my hair was extremely textured to the point where it almost looked as if I never had a touch-up. FYI: I purchased normal strength. I wanted a textured look, but not this textured. On the other hand, I love the fact that this product (along with other affirm products) gives you soooo much information on it such as expiration date of product, percentage of sodium hydroxide,directions (of course), etc. As mentioned earlier, this product is packed with information and I LOVE IT since I don't have to call the company. You also get an enormous amount of relaxer, which you can share with others. So far, it is worth it. Update: Now, I have been using this same tube of Affirm Relaxer for 23 months (I may be able to do my hair 2-3 more times before it is gone). Before using this relaxer, my hair was already way past my bra strap while being bone straight. Before using the relaxer, I had a decent amount of thickness and it was easy to comb through my dry hair because my hair was really straight. Well, up until 10 weeks ago using this relaxer, my hair has been hard to comb through, took hours to detangle, and always would have an enormous amount of texture which caused headache knots. All of this resulted it breakage. I had to do a corrector relaxer treatment twice, which scared me enormously ( I couldn't take the hours of detangling anymore after a year). Now, my hair is silky smooth and easy to comb because I do relax to a straighter look. I have lost a lot less hair in my detangling phase. Relaxing bone straight could be disastrous, but I preserve hair better with bone straight hair due to the following reasons: I only comb through my hair maybe 1x every 4-8 weeks; when I do comb it, I comb from the ends up (I never rip through tangles); I use coconut oil and fingers to separate tangles and use a safety pin to undue knots (if that doesn't work, then I use my hair scissors to cut the know as close as possible to the knot); I only use heat of any kind 1x every 8 weeks (always use heat protectant and low heat that is set at 300 degrees or less); and I never use a brush or blow dryer. All of this has resulted in me having extremely lengthly hair. My hair would have been longer if I would have continued to relax bone straight because it worked for me, but I thought that texture hair was the way to go. All it ended up doing was cause me to lose hair. Although some things work wonderful for others, it's important to do what you can tolerate (equally important to listen to hair). It will prevent you from being frustrated a pulling your hair out. So, the verdict is that I l really like this relaxer because of cost, information provided on package, how it makes my hair feel, etc. It won't expire until 9/29/2014, so I have time to use the remainder.

I've been relaxing my own hair for nearly 15 years now and this is the worst relaxer product I've ever used. Does it get the new growth straight? Yes. Is it easy to use and low on chemical odors? Yes. Will you be bald with continued use of the product? YES. I saw my shoulder length, healthy relaxed hair coming out in long thick clumps of strands EVERY TIME I ran my hand through my hair in the shower. It shed just as bad when it was dry. After the second use, I went back to the Mizani neutralizer just to see if it would stop the shedding (which it did, a little). This relaxer caused major breakage like I've never seen (and hope to never see again). I don't even heat style or blow dry. It was shocking how much hair I lost, a ton of breakage at the nape of the neck creeping up towards the crown on one side (looks like someone snipped at it with trimming scissors). I don't even wear my hair up anymore, waiting for the damage to grow back out. After 3 applications, threw out the entire tub. Back to Mizani while I still have hair left.

After my last disappointing experience at the hairdresser I started relaxing my own hair. I read reviews on what would be the best over-the-counter no-lye relaxer and after two attempts realized how badly that type of relaxer dried out my hair. I always heard good things about the Affirm product line and decided to order the fiberguard relaxer. I couldn't believe how well it worked. I also couldn't believe that after paying over $60 dollars each individual visit to the hairdresser I now have close to a year's worth of relaxer where my results surpass what I have been paying for from the hairdresser. I am truly one satisfied customer.
