Perfect gift
Bought for my grandson, aged 10 for Christmas. A perfect present for a young boy interested in Architecture...he spent most of the holidays looking at it, what a change from being on a game station!

Love DK books but this one is a disappointment.
A Visual History of Architecture is a grand title but usually the sort of project which DK excels in. This attempt does list many world buildings but the uninspired layout, small format and lack of detailed illustration for almost all the buildings shown make this feel like a catalogue rather than a studied exposition of architectural history. The two pages devoted to the Hagia Sofia were especially poor showing none of its beauty and grandeur. Returned my copy for a refund. I much preferred their Great Buildings which while it lists only 50 buildings deals with each as a work of art.
