My research showed this was a good price and the bar had good/competitive reviews vs. higher priced curl bars. I was a "bit" concerned about the comments on lock retention (lock collars and weights turning/loosening). The bar and collars received were indeed sturdy and reflected quality craftmanship. True to the fairly high number of comments on the lock retention I had the same problem. Specifically as I was lifting the collar was backing off and weights were becoming loose. The collars come with inside rubber gaskets which is good but the issue is there is no way for the weights (I use cast iron plates) to grip on the inside contact point. For this I added two rubber gasket on the inside of the bar. The problem was solved. You can use/order any round 1" ID gasket but I specifically ordered from Amazon Joywayus item 6ZM-FER-71530 (10 for $8 in 3/2026). My pics show the gasket installed on one side.

Ok, so here's everything you need to know about this bar. I bought this easy curl bar based on the reviews, and I was not disappointed! The bar is sturdy and well made, the knurling is perfect (not too shallow and not too aggressive), and the bar was packaged well, so it arrived in great condition. The bar does appear to be painted and not powder coated. The black color appears to be a gloss black, so in case the paint ever does chip, I recommend buying a can of gloss black spray paint, spraying a little in the cap, and using a little paintbrush to touch it up (this is what I did for a trap bar of the same color that I ordered on Amazon that came a little beat up when I got it, and it worked great, you can't even tell where it was touched up). I ordered this specific bar because the grips appeared to be at the proper angles to be the most ergonomic (which a lot of the other bars I saw weren't), and when I received the bar, this was accurate (I have wrist issues, and this bar is very comfortable and easy on the wrists). I saw some reviews complaining that the collars loosen up on their own, but the collars I received have rubber gaskets on them which prevent the collars from loosening, so it looks like they updated the design. The threading is well machined, and the collars spin on and off very easily, and the bar diameter is accurate, so the weight plates slide on and off easily without excessive play. I've been getting massive pumps with this bar. Buy it, you won't regret it! Also, if Amazon wants to make me a Vine Reviewer, I would absolutely like to join (hintidy-hint-hint ;)

The ez bar seems to be pretty good. My only complaint is the threaded end caps are not completely secure. It’s bad enough I have to make sure to retighten after every set but not bad enough that I feel like the plates will fall off. The grip feels nice and honestly, if it weren’t for the end caps loosening, this is an easy 5 star. But for that, I have to knock it down a star.

Excellent quality and superior performance

I’m very pleased with the ExtreSpo 47" EZ Curl Bar. It’s sturdy and well-balanced, perfect for hip thrusts, squats and lunges. The grip feels comfortable and secure, and the 1-inch size fits standard weight plates easily. A solid, reliable bargreat for home workouts.

The bar is solid and has good weight. Looks like a good quality product which I am sure will serve me for years to come. When I received the package, it was open on one end...the side and top tabs were totally gone. Luckily the clamps were screwed into the bar so it was one piece and so nothing fell out. Because it's a heavier product, perhaps reinforced packaging should be used for shipping.
