The Interior Design Reference & Specification Book: Everything Interior Designers Need to Know Every Day Review: Awesome, awesome, awesome. - This interior design book, along with their architecture book, gave me SO MANY ideas, concepts, pitfalls, things to think about, that I couldn't put it down. I thought I knew a lot behind the engineering for designing my next house, this book showed me how wrong I was. This is not written like a story book, nor is it just a technical-numbers reference... it gives a brief (technical) overview of each concept before presenting the numbers behind each reference. If you're used to reading stories or are looking for decorating ideas, look elsewhere. But, if you've also got an engineer's brain, you will love how this reads. I especially liked the section on the engineering behind colors and light, with how it relates to design. I read this cover-to-cover, and will probably do it again more than once during my home design process. Review: Finally an Encyclopedia of design! - Brilliant. Thorough. Consise. Ever thought to yourself, "I wish there was a book out there that told me every-thing I need to know about interior design in a clear format and preferably in simple diagrams"? This is it! It's so incredibly precise and detailed. The author covers the broad aesthetic concepts as well as the the detailed/dimensioned aspects in one fell swoop. From How to meet/bill clients, or building massing strategies, all the way to various weaves/construction of carpet or laminates. I can't adequately verbalize how emphatically impressed I am by this extraordinary compilation. I will buy everything these authors compile. So well crafted.

Not for a hobbyist
I wanted to know if I should go back to school for interior design since I love it as a hobby. This book is super concise but thorough, like a cliff notes of interior design, and bored me so bad I realized a hobby is enough for me. Great for students, professionals, perfectionists, or people currently building a home to understand what their designers and architects are doing and why.

Very Useful!
This book has everything I've ever really needed to look up. It covers a lot of different topics, gives you specifications that you see all the time, and so much more. As an interior design student, I highly suggest it for other students and professionals as well. I've purchased a lot of interior design books over the last few years and this one has probably been the most useful.

Need for reference
Great reference pieces for the office. I have interns that can learn a lot from these and they are good for me to brush up on topics I haven't looked at in a while

Exactly the kind of ID book I wanted
This book is a great size to throw in your purse or backpack to read whenever you have the time. Very easy to understand and very informative. Exactly what I was looking for.

Needed it for private English teaching and helped me getting a really good insight into interior design regarding the topic as well as the langauage.

The book is interesting but I received a book in bad condition, with glue on it and damaged in the corners

A wonderful book! I bought it as we were planning on a complete refurbishment of the parents' summerhouse. In a concise, practical way, all the major aspects of interior design are listed and shortly explained. Now I am on the same page with our architect :)
