Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings 3-Pack - 13-56 Gauge

I've been playing acoustic guitar for many years and have used these strings on both my Martin D-15 and Guild JF4. They consistently deliver the bright, articulate tone that I expect from quality 80/20 bronze strings. The medium-light gauge provides a nice balance between playability and projection, making them comfortable for long practice sessions while still producing plenty of volume and presence. The three-pack offers solid value, especially through Subscribe & Save, and it's convenient to always have a fresh set available when needed. These have become one of my regular string choices for acoustic performance and practice.

These are my favorite strings and I was happy to find them on Amazon with such quick shipping! I’m not the most advanced guitarist but I find that they play really well and are comfortable on my fingers, even if I’ve been playing for a few hours. They are labeled well and easy to string on the guitar. I also find that I don’t have to tune very often, and when I do they’re only slightly out of tune. This set has been on my guitar for about 2 months and they still sound great, bright but not tinny and the lows have a good amount of bass without sounding muddy.

These are great acoustic strings. They're zingy and bright early on but not spikey, brittle or harsh. Right from the first tuning the low strings reveal nice round bass tones from thumb Travis-Picked lines. Strums are airy and open with drop D tuning sound especially deep and sonorous with these strings. The acoustic I put these on is an older Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500. About 10 years old, the solid mahogany back & sides and solid spruce top have opened up and the whole guitar is resonant and full. I played a good 2 to 3 hours on these over 2 days and the break in so beautifully. The high end eases back, not so strident & metallic and takes on a cystal clarity with supporting mids and audible harmonics. You have to mute adjoining strings when tuning because any open strings will sympathetically ring out harmonics. They are that responsive. The Martin strings I changed to these were only 2 weeks old and frankly never, even first strum, sounded as good as these Ernie Balls. People debate how long you should go before changing acoustic (and electric for that matter) strings. I personally think changing strings every gig or every session is overkill. You'll hear from roadies of famous touring guitarists (McCartney's band, Chili Peppers, Clapton, Foo Fighters) that they change strings every gig. That may be easy to do when you're making $45,000 for a two hour show. Playing the blues club for beer & wings might be a tougher proposition to pull off. I feel unless you sweat very acidic sweat, which I've heard of, changing strings should only be done when you first notice they just dont feel, sound or tune right. The life of a string does alter the sound profile over time, but I like a set of worn in strings on rhythm guitar and straight strumming acoustics. If the wrapped strings get gunk in them or the unwrapped strings are turning black then change them. I use Finger Ease before I play which makes the back of the neck nice and fast and the strings get slick and fast without feeling coated or sounding muted. The spray helps prolong strings in my view and at under $5 here at Amazon I feel its like a mandatory guitar case item. Try these and many others and you'll find "your" strings. I've been playing for 20+ years so lots of trial and error has guided me to my preferences. The Martin strings on my acoustic before these were put on to try, I still like to check things out, but more than likely I go back to my favorites. These Earthwoods, especially the way the Ernie Ball acoustic .11's don't feel too slinky like some other brands "Extra Light" or .11 gauge packs can be. I love Fender 3550 Bullets .09's for my Strat & electrics but just got some Ernie Ball Cobalts to try...at $5 here on Amazon trying different brands occasionally to experiment won't break you. Just give them a good 2 to 3 weeks of solid playing before issuing your final verdict. All just my opinion of course, be cool...

I play mostly acoustic guitar, and until now had used daddario exclusively on my steel and nylon stringed guitars. They had always sounded good and the company has a good range of strings to select from. About a year ago I got a mid 70's Yairi dreadnought. The guitar had been played hard all these years and the top was open and it sounded warm and powerful. I realized that there would likely be a search involved to find just the right strings to make the most of this well worn beauty. There were string gauge recommendations/limitations inthe soundhole of the guitar. Given the age of the top I wasn't going to exceed the limits. My normal dreadnought strings are Daddario EJ17's (13's, Mediums), but they were outside the limits. I tried EJ16's, the lights, but I felt the warmth was not what I had hoped. Older guitars often have this magic where you get fantastic projection without brittleness or strident tone. The EJ16's didn't bring out enough of the vintage character I felt the Yairi could provide. So I began searching other manufacturers to see what was available. These strings were a very close match to the gauge limits so I ordered a pair. Just what I had hoped! Warmth coupled with projection. These strings were a perfect fit for my vintage Yairi. I'll also mention that the B and high E strings feel unusually thin for their gauge...thinner than EJ16's. It's not bad, just a observation. They are every comfortable to play. You can really feel them under your fingers and they fret easily. The downside to these strings are that their tone tends to fade more quickly than my others, hence a 1 star deduction. The sound is so good and they are reasonably priced...despite this flaw I'm sticking with the 2003's. I've been using these strings for a year and I've never had a broken string. All the sets I've used in that time...about 10...have been uniformly excellent. If, like me, you're on a search for a warm, smooth sound that still has projection and power (and you have the guitar top to facilitate this), give these a try. They are perfect for my old Yairi and I've had a positive introduction to Ernie Ball!

I got the 2006 extra light strings 1st. The G string is coiled or wrapped. The coil frayed & had nicks in it almost right away. I decided to get the 2008 rock & blues strings for my other acoustic guitar to give them a try. Soo much better & the G string is not coiled. I ordered a 2nd set yesterday & got them today with free shipping. I replaced the 2006 strings for these 2008 strings. Big difference, they are softer & sound & play way more better.😉 Do yourself a favor & stay away from the extra light ones & get these 2008 rock & blues instead. My uncle has been playing for yrs & told me these are the only ones he buys. They are much brighter as well.

purchased these strings for my grandaughter's acoustic / electric guitar, she likes the strings, sound good but a bit heavy for her small hands.

Great metalic sound.

I replaced a set of 12-53's with these and they are noticeably easier to fret making it easier on the hands and fingers. They do have a brighter sound than I was used to, but overall, I am very happy with them and will continue to use them. It's too soon to tell how durable they will be.

Saiten sind Geschmackssache, und über Geschmack läßt sich trefflich streiten. Diese Saiten sind genau mein Cup of Tea, seit ewig. Kommen auf alle meine Gitten, immer. Ich bräuchte eine eigene Fabrik. Sie halten auch lange. Wobei ich finde, das neue Saiten nie gut klingen. Erst "eingespielt" laufen sie zu wahrer Größe auf. Dann ist die Frage, wie schnell die Kurve wieder fällt. Ich habe sie auf vollmassiven Gitten, und auf gesperrten, und mag sie auf beiden. Sie haben keinen "schnarrigen" Ton an sich, sondern eher mellow. Das mag ich, weil ich mit den Fingernägeln picke, es könnte sonst zu hart klingen. Ich mag auf meinen 12-Endern auch Martin Saiten, aber nur da. Denn da strumme ich nur, ohne Plektrum. Das paßt. Ich denke, sie sind einen Versuch wert, wenn man tonal auf "weich" steht, oder das mal antesten möchte.
