The Women's Essential Rain Jacket is a stylish, lightweight piece featuring Gore-Tex with Paclite Technology—making it waterproof, windproof, breathable, and extremely packable. The hydrophobic Gore-Tex membrane contains over 9 billion pores per square inch to reduce internal moisture, and the Paclite layer regulates temperature while keeping weight to a bare minimum. The Essential jacket also features fully taped seams to prevent leaks, Velcro cuffs that can be cinched to keep out the cold, zippered hand pockets for storing small items, and an attached hood that adjusts for better facial coverage. If interior heat should begin to build up, simply open the Pitzips—zippered ventilation openings under the arms—to increase air flow.

Pretty much the perfect rain shell
I was on the hunt for a rain shell and had several specific criteria: 1) long (if you're in the pouring rain, what good does a coat do if it only covers the too half of you? Wet butt, no thanks!). This is definitely long to cover your bootie. 2) waterproof- obviously. I haven't tried this in rain yet, but it's Gore Tex, so I'm confident this has that covered. 3) lightweight and packs up small- this is so lightweight it feels like air. It rolls up pretty small. Like one other reviewer said, I got mine at a steak by getting a used Amazon Warehouse deal on it and the tags were still attached. Definitely like new and paid a fraction of full price. I got black which wasn't my first pick but for the price I can't go wrong. I'm 150lbs and 5'6" and the medium definitely fit and looked the nicest. However if I squat down, it kinda cut me across the hips and there wasn't a whole lot of room for layering. A large didn't cut me across the hips when I squat and I could put a fleece underneath and not feel constricted in the least. It wasn't as flattering of a look, but if I'm in a downpour, I want to be dry, not a model. Plus when you're soaked I hate the feeling on having tight clothes in addition, so large is the winner. It doesn't have the look of being "too big" either if you know what I mean. It still looks nice and looks like it fits - just with a little more wiggle room. Overall I'd definitely say this fits the bill. I'm looking forward to being dry in the rain and hope this lasts for most of my life!

The best rain and wind jacket
Marmot is such a great company in designing men and women's clothing to keep use warm and dry from the elements! Every time I wear this jacket I'm grateful to own it because it's perfect for So. Cal in the rain, wind, mountains. Each time I wear it, people ask me where I bought it and who makes it. It's great to layer over your clothes ans so easy to care for. I highly recommend this jacket!

flattering and practical
LOVE this jacket! plenty of room in shoulders for active outdoor movement, but so flattering to have shaped seems instead of a drawstring cinch like so many others - it's my "dress coat" for mild weather - the blue is lovely! I'm 135 ish, 5'4.5 ish and the small is just right. Had it for a year now and it looks brand new still.

Keeps me dry!
I have been very pleased with this jacket. Lightweight, numerous adjustable options (hood, neck, wrists, under arm), it works to keep dry and comfortable in many climates and environments. Worth the price.

Lovely color
Fabric seems quality and is definitely water proof. Like the not too bright cheery color, length and slim but still comfortable fit. Favorite feature is the pit zips for breathability. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to use it. Bought it for a rainy vacation but it arrived too late and didn't need it anymore.

Love!
Marmot is the best value. Very nice quality similar to north face. I love this coat. Gore Tex is the best water proof fabric and this coat covers my whole butt! Highly recommend this coat.

I love it
This jacket is worth the price. It is Nicely made it doesn’t look sloppy on the body it’s very comfy but it’s not a winter jacket —It’s to protect from RAIN ! So if you’re chilly put a long sleeve under ! Several pockets and I love the length. I’m 5’3 and all my stuff is xs. Size is pretty accurate.

Nice, Very Basic, Technical (Gortex) Raincoat.
Ordered a medium and have to exchange it for a large. This is a slim fit, NOT an athletic fit as the website notes. If you’re above a C cup, size up. This fit fine in the waist and hips for me, but if you are curvy through the stomach or hips, size up! I fit into the medium fine everywhere but across the chest it is not forgiving. It’s a nice jacket, but it’s also a very basic. While Gortex, it’s still super thin. But it has a decent front zipper and zip pockets, and drawstring in the inside of the hood for fit. This is not the top of the line or even top or this brands line waterproof coat. I have the top of the line Version in Marmot that hits at my hip which I love for hiking, but I wanted something for running around town/walking that covers more of my legs. Hopefully this works well.
