My daughter couldn't figure out where to mount a phone stand in our 2009 Cobalt then we found this gem. Since she doesn't use the CD player this seemed like the best option that wouldn't obstruct the new driver's view. This is a good options and has worked well for her. The phone doesn't slide out or move. No worrying that it's going to fall and cause her to be distracted trying to find her phone. It doesn't block any of the air vents, it doesn't kind of block some of the stereo functions but that is the cars design, not a bad design on this product. It was super easy to install, just insert into the CD slot, tighten the adjustments to make sure it's secure. We installed this Phone Mount about 5 months ago and it's still holding strong. As far as attaching to the CD player slot and holding the phone at pretty much any angle you want, this thing is great. You put the phone in place, then squeeze the two sides of the mount together to clamp the phone securely. As you squeeze, you can hear a pawl moving over a ratchet. It's actually more like the rack in a rack and pinon car steering setup; they are visible on the moving sides. There's a bit of padding on the inside of the clamps that contact the phone, which has a bit of "give" to them. When you squeeze, they compress, and the ratchet clicks to the next narrower position. This works to hold the phone very securely. To remove the phone, press a button that releases the pawl on the ratchet, and the two side move apart. Only reason I didn't give five stars is the ratchet mechanism that clamps the phone. You can't see the pawl without disassembling, which I did not do, but the ratchet teeth are plastic. There a fair amount of tension on them when you have squeezed the sides together hard enough to hold the phone securely, and if you use only one phone (or multiple phones of the same width), that tension will always be on the same teeth on the ratchet, and there is by necessity some friction on those plastic teeth when you clamp and release the phone. I don't know how many clamp and release cycles it'll take to wear out the locking mechanism. UPDATE: 10/01/2025 After using the mount for two summers of vacationing it shows no signs of wear. Rating updated to five stars.

Good, but needs redesigned! Good points: Clever idea to use the CD slot. Its small, has a button that opens up the sides to place the phone, and the unit itself is pretty sturdy. Has some give for positioning/angles to use. It's on a roller ball and round plastic screw that goes over it. There's a dial you turn to tighten it into the CD slot which is sturdy. The issues: it raised my phone, which blocked part of my view when driving. As well as my dashboard/screen. I have a 2015 Hyundai santa fe sport. It goes up too high and no way to lower it down. (It will depend on where your CD slot is located on your car) Even if you could lower it, it would completely block mt dash/screen. It did hold my phone securely in the mount. I could only video showing my case that wouldn't stay, since I'm recording with my phone. It didn't hold my phone in the case securely either. The bottom platform the phone sits on is a bit weak, difficult to flip down at times. Overall, I'll be returning the item. It just didn't with fit my car/suv. See photos, videos. Best phone holder I've bought thus far. It fits perfectly in my Nissan Maxima S in the CD slot and isn't in the way of anything. My phone is a heavy Samsung S25 Ultra, and it holds up well. No issues.

Works well for me and holds my Pixel4A securely away from direct sunlight. Phone is easy to mount and easy to dismount as it has only one push button to release. The side grabs also do not pinch the volume buttons as most regular holders do. So it seems designed by careful people. The horizontal holding function is great when using maps.
