The Big Fat High School Algebra 1 Workbook: 400+ Algebra 1 Practice Exercises (Big Fat Notebook)

This math book has been a great help in teaching Algebra 1. The book is well structured and organized, the subject is well explained, and the topic is easy to learn and understand. Our daughter actually asked if there were more high school subjects in this series; she likes it so much. I'm very glad we purchased this book. The price is compatible with other Algebra books and programs. I still recommend using a second Algebra book in tandem just to have all the bases covered. With this book, we approached Algebra with confidence, enjoying the easy step-by-step explanations.

I bought the Big Fat Algebra 1 and Geometry for my kids. I am an engineer and my work requires me to be fresh in Math, so I kinda tutor my kids from time to time. Here is my opinion. The book style and organization fit with middle school level kids (grade7-9). Lessons are short, bitesize and easy to follow and exercises are simple. Now this is not a book that can take your kids through SAT, but it can get their initial questions answered. For SAT you need a much better book with less focus on "simplifying". The sequence of the book may not match the classroom, so, you need to know what you're doing. There are s few errors, but easy to spot, nothing worthy of criticism. In short, use this book along with classroom notes grades min 7 to max 9. After that look for a solid Math book with hard assignment. Don't start with a harder book, your kids will hate you. Dedicate one summer (probably after grade 9) to review Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry with your kids and bring them to a solid SAT level. I gave the book 5 start for the purpose I identified.

This series is amazing for my ADHD/avoidant little brother's homeschooling. We got both books, the study guide and this one. The awesome part is, the workbook actually does have little explanations for what you're doing, but the study guide just expands on a lot more topics. If you're homeschooling, and you might not be the best at math, this book will help YOU as the teacher grasp the topics so that you can then go ahead and instruct your child or student. It's been extremely helpful and STRAIGHT FORWARD.

Ok, this will sound crazy. My grandson got one and it reminded me of how much I loved algebra in High School. I bought myself one and have been having a blast from the past working through it. First I had to find a pencil… I haven’t used one of those in years.

I really like how the book was layed out. Its like a notebook look with lots of colors and little notes or guides. Makes it more interesting and fun than your basic textbook. It explains things pretty well. There are some small things i noticed i didnt understand, but if you get the recommended pre algebra & algebra 1 notebook to go with it, you can figure out everything easily so far. I always sucked at algebra so i got the books to go through with my daughter and learn/relearn together. It has made it fun. To my surprise my daughter has been picking it up and working through the book on her own as well. It must be good if a teenager will do it voluntarily lol!!!

If you have somebody studying for GED or high school diploma this is a great book to help with all math problems it helped me get my GED highly recommend

I loved reviewing my pre high school math with this workbook. I also have the Algebra II book, which delves into higher more complex algebraic concepts. I much prefer these exercises to working a crossword puzzle, great bedtime reading.

Amazing book with good form and structure in explaining mathematical concepts.

As someone who hated mathematics in my schooldays, I am now 68 years of age and have started to enjoy mathematics as a hobby. I absolutely loved this book. Everything is so clearly explained and all the questions have fully-worked answers. It's a fun and colourful book. I would plead with the publishers to now create one that teaches calculus!

Absolutely love this book!! It makes math so much easier, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with math.

I ordered this book (along with a number of other books from this series) because the concept makes sense to me. However, opened the book and a "big fat" mistake already on the first page (see picture). It doesn’t come across as very thoroughly edited, and now it looks as I have to go through the book at the same time to make sure my children aren’t learning anything wrong. That wasn’t really the idea behind buying the book. The concept is correctly explained in the notebook, though.
