Are you thinking about learning to tattoo? Not sure where to start? Or simply want an advantage over the competition? This book will tell you everything you need to know to get you on the right path! From how to make your portfolio stand out, to how to approach shops and much, much more. You will also get a behind the scenes view of things and advice on topics such as how much you will earn and things you may not have considered about the job. This really does give you all the information you will need to set you on the right path and advise you on if tattooing is the right career for you. Review: Simple, concise, straight talking - Really helpful book! Very down to earth, telling it how it really is. Very straightforward and concise. Really small book that can be read in a day but very helpful if wanting to know how to get an apprenticeship. If you want something that literally tells you how to tattoo then this is not the book for you. But it gives handy tips for getting into the tattoo industry. Review: Awesome - Great read. If you are just starting or thinking of starting, READ THIS 100% learned so much that I didnโt know.

which might be fine if it was ยฃ1
If I could give less than one star, I would have. This is rubbish. it's not even a "book" as I know it. It's much more of a pamphlet in my opinion, which might be fine if it was ยฃ1........but it's so so over-priced it's un-true.

Concise and informative!
This book is a must if you are even pipe dreaming about getting into tattooing, it's refreshing to read a book which tells it like it is! Well done Graham.

Misleading title, more of a pamphlet than a book.
I'm currently doing an apprenticeship, and thought this might help alongside. I bought this hoping it would teach me the basics about choosing a machine, setting one up, voltage, needles, making stencils, etc, maybe have some step by step guides with photo's. It has none of that, it's basically one man's experiences of working in the industry. If you want to know about how the pay system works, shop management, and customers, then this is all this book covers. The title is completely misleading, as it does not teach you anything about actual tattooing. Also, it isn't worth the money i paid for it. It is a small paperback book, only 50 pages long. I read it cover to cover in less than two hours. Save your money and buy some nice pens or pencils to work on your sketching instead.

A great first read for someone just starting out.
This is a brutally realistic asset. I am glad I read it, no bs and gave me information that is useful. Not as general as other books. Thank you to the author.

A good book to read if your thinking of becoming a tattooist
I found this book straight to the point, informative and realistic but not so inspiring.some good factors of what to expect which I liked.

A very negative essay on the trade of tattooing. Hardly any info..
The title of this book should be: Get a life! don't start tattooing! It's hardly a book but more of a few pages telling you to do something else (preferrably something fun..) with your life. The author dispays an array of bad experiences in the business, tells you the earnings are poor, the colleagues that tattoo behave like pop stars and the customers often are quite smelly. Finally he gives some details about how to do it.

Covers Its Basis
It's a short read so not worth a ton of money for me but it does aim to be concise. It covers what you'd expect it to in its title. I feel as though if you've taken any route of course through school where your were expected to produce a portfolio, you already have the basics down and really only need to research types of tattoo art and then produce that along with your "style" in a professional & organized manner. Besides that the author covers what a prospective apprenticeship world be looking for from you and how best to navigate them. If you have any experience in sales you may already know the drill. Come at them in a professional manner, show respect, be persistent, and followup. I also like how this read covers the grunt work and familiarizes you with the tools of the trade where that's concerned. However, if you are looking for knowledge on tatoo machines, inks, etc., that is not within the scope of this book as this book literally focuses on getting an apprenticeship and what to look for in the ones you want vs. those you may not benefit from & why.

Not Useful At All
Iโm already a tattoo artist and am looking into existing books on how to get into the industry. I get asked all the time how to get an apprenticeship, and Iโm looking for the best information that I can refer others to. This book has hardly any information at all, never mind anything accurate or unbiased. Far too simplified with many spelling and grammar mistakes, and not enough detail to be considered helpful in any capacity. Huge waste of time and money.
