Blind automation
After using the SwitchBot Blind Tilt Curtain Rod model for several weeks, I can confidently say itโs one of the simplest ways to turn standard blinds into smart, automated ones, without replacing your existing setup. Setup and Installation Installation was refreshingly easy. The device clips onto the blindโs tilt rod and connects to the SwitchBot app within minutes. The in-app calibration walks you through open and close positions, and it worked flawlessly on the first try. For people who want to automate without tools or rewiring, this is a major plus. Smart Control and Integration The SwitchBot ecosystem has grown nicely. With the Hub Mini. Voice commands like โAlexa, open the blindsโ are surprisingly satisfying and reliable. You can also create schedules, group multiple blinds, or trigger actions based on time, temperature, or sunlight. Performance The motor is quiet and smooth, though not completely silent. It moves at a steady pace that feels deliberate and controlled ideal for a bedroom or office. Battery life is solid; even with daily open/close routines, you can expect several months of use per charge. Add the optional SwitchBot Solar Panel, and you may never need to plug it in again. App and Automation The SwitchBot app is straightforward, with clean automation options. One of my favorite features is the sunrise/sunset automation, which adjusts automatically with seasonal changes. If youโre already using other SwitchBot devices (like the Thermometer or Motion Sensor), you can create smart routines that respond to environmental conditions.

Works great in Florida.
I absolutely love this. Just wish the price was closer to $30. My wrist hates the twisting motion to open my blinds. Got one of the to work on a north facing window in Florida. No issues with getting enough sunlight to full charge using the solar panel. Easy to install. Needed a few minutes to get everything just right. It synced up to its own app just fine but couldn't get it to sync to Alexa. Not an issue since I set it to auto open at sunrise and close at sunset. I can control it via the app. After about 5 months of use. Open and closing every day I realized it needed to be recalibrated to close better. Not an issue and easy to do. Started with one would like 5 more. And wish they had options for the pull string blind tilts. This has allowed me to open my house and let sunlight in regularly without hurting my wrist, and not having to climb over furniture to do it either. Highly recommend. Looking forward to getting a few more things like the curtain open and closers.

Clever design made installation fairly easy and product performs great!
Took me about 45 minutes to install since I went step by step very carefully so as not to mess up. If I purchase additional Blind Tilts the installation will probably take only 10 minutes. The product performs exactly as described. It changes the blind angles fairly slowly but speed really isn't needed anyway and slower movement will hopefully translate to longer trouble free lifespan. Initially I hooked up the supplied solar panel but the Blind Tilt didn't recognize it. I did some research and theorized that the Blind Tilt firmware was at version 1.2 while the latest version 2.0 was needed to support the solar panel and associated light sensor. I could not find anyway to upgrade the firmware so I submitted a support request to Wonderlabs. The very next morning I discovered that there was a firmware upgrade awaiting installation into my Blind Tilt. I went through the upgrade and now the solar panel is charging the unit (when there's bright enough sunlight). Overall the Blind Tilt is working great! Discovering that the firmware was out of date was disappointing but Wonderlabs took care of that literally overnight. I've set the unit up to automatically open every morning and close every evening so I'll see over the next few weeks if it performs reliably and also if the solar panel keeps the unit charged. I've added the Alexa integration and that also works great. I've mounted it to a six foot wide by five foot high window blind that is about four years old. The Blind Tilt gear motor did not seem to be "laboring" at all when it went from down close to up close, so I think it could handle even larger blinds if it needed to. A note about the process of mounting the solar panel to your window via the self adhesive pad. I cleaned the glass with the supplied alcohol wipe then peeled the backing off of the self adhesive strip and began to position the panel towards the top of the window. I inadvertently slightly touched the pad to the glass while moving the panel into position and it stuck instantly and I couldn't pull it back off (without risking damage) so the solar panel is mounted at an angle a few inches from where I panned to place it. Oh well!!! :) So use some extra care when you reach this step. If it survives my "trial" period I will probably purchase several more since I have the same Horizontal Blinds on every window in my house! It's appears to be a well designed, sturdy product that is providing a lot for its relatively low price. I will update if things change! May 26,2025 update: I ended up buying seven more these to automate the four blinds in my livingroom and three blinds in my bedroom. Installation went great on all of them and they all work fine. The only issue Iโve run across is with the Alexa integration. I donโt know if my blinds are unique but when they are โclosed upโ they block light much better than when they are โclosed downโ. Unfortunately, Alexa can open or close them just fine with voice commands but they always โclose downโ which means I have to go into the SwitchBot app and command a โclose upโ or else live with the light leaks!

Very good, but read the caveats.
Honest review from a person who bought 16 of them. 1) I am a smart home tech guy. I have nearly everything connected in my home, 150+ devices and connections. I will give an honest assessment and not from a know it all perspective. 2) Installation is really easy. Clipping the gear on the wand is the hardest part and a pair of plyers helps. 3) The app seems well built. I like the options for Scenes to build an automation for each blind setting across all blinds. 4) Device groups is beta but honestly works fine if YOU ARE WITHIN RANGE. 5) The app doesNOT connect to the blinds individually or in groups if you are more than 10-15 feet away. At all. Zero chance. 6) Automations seem to work Ok From the app regardless of where you are. Setup a schedule and the blinds will work flawlessly. Want to open one blind from the app from your work? Nope. 7) Hubs don't matter. By 11 or buy 1. Same connectivity. 8) Buy the remote control. Same proximity issues as the app, but if you create a Scene to move all at once, it works great. 9) I spray painted mine to match the blinds and they still connected the same. 10). Does not play well with Alexa. At all. Don't bother. Just use the automation and schedules in the app. 11) If you have 21 windows on your first floor like me and you want something that just works like clockwork on a schedule, with extremely minimal involvement ONCE setup, and you don't want to pay 350+ per window for something factory installed, this is for you. I would recommend if you are ehhh.. so-so savvy, but not for those who are technically inept. 12) I have the window solar battery and after 6 weeks, they are about 15% depleted with 85% remaining. They move 3 times daily.. open, open more, close.

Great product to let a little sunshine in!
These work better than I expected. I have had them for two weeks now and so far no issues whatsoever. I have mindset to open an hour after sunrise and close an hour before sunset. I also have them set to close if everyone leaves home. That way people arenโt hearing in my window after I leave and nobody at home. I also have a button set on my hub three. That way I can close or open them with a press the button. The noise level is decent and not very noticeable. I have seen people complain about the instructions, but from my point of view, it was very easy. With a little common sense and a few assumptions, you can get installed in less than 10 minutes. It was my first time with this product and I bought two. I had both of them installed and running in just over 10 minutes.

Great find for homes with vaulted windows
Love these openers. Could be considered a little expensive since they are just for convenience, but they work wonderfully. We had Sunsa blind openers before these and they were a pain. (They were more expensive and we were constantly changing the batteries.) These run on solar, so there is no maintenance. I've only had them for about six months so I have high hopes! If I still like them at the one-year mark, I'll order more for additional windows in my house.

Good product and function
Easy to install though a little tedious so follow directions closely. Works great and the group function controls four window shades simultaneously. Good product!

Pro: It works amazingly -- Con: Useless solar panel
Works super well as a blind tilt motor that adjusts to the needs of your windows and blinds, but the solar panel doesn't recharge the battery at all so I have to manually plug it in every two months or so. Also, I used to wake up super early in the morning when it tilted the blinds open, but I discovered the silent mode so I don't have to wake up too early. One charge goes a very long time.

Great for home automation!
I purchased a single SwitchBot Smart Motorized Blind Kit and it worked so well I then bought the 3-pack for my other blinds. These are really easy to install with no drilling etc. The instructions were straight forward to follow and the app walks you through the process with step by step visuals. Aside from the easy physical installation, the setup within the app worked flawlessly first time for each one I setup. I charged them up before use and a few months later, I'm only now having to charge them up again which is as expected. I am using the included solar panels fitted on the windows but it's the middle of winter so I don't think they will perform as well at this time of year in any case given the low light. It's worth noting, the rod on one of my blinds is a bit stiff and not easy to twist, especially if the rod is pointing straight down (instead of holding it an an angle), this device is still able to open and close the blinds without any problem. I guess this will result in the battery life being shorter on this one but I was surprised it can open/close it with no issue. The Switchbot app is well thought out and has all the necessary settings you would expect. You can control the blinds via the app and set them so they auto open/close at specific times. The app also as the ability to automate them based on sunrise/sunset which I think would be the best choice. As a side note, whilst the app is comprehensive, after initially setting up within the app, I don't use it in any way to control them and instead I have incorporated them within Home Assistant as HA natively supports these Switchbot devices so I can control them along with all my other smart home devices. Great item and feature rich app. Recommended!

I should have bought this earlier
I stumbled on this device during Cyber Monday. Installation was easy, works great, does the job, the solar panel is an excellent feature (no cables from an outlet). Only disadvantage is that you need an additional hub if you want to control it with Google Home. I might try to use Home Assistant with a Bluetooth dongle.
