I have a marantz nr1200 receiver; will this work with the existing remote control if i plug this into the ir port on the receiver?

No, this item is an IR emitter. If your Marantz is in a position where the existing remote doesn't work you need to plug an IR receiver (looks similar to the emitter but the head is a bit bigger) into the marantz IR port, you can then locate the head of the IR receiver where you can aim the existing remote.
