Review: Very good book - I am using the book for self study revision. It covers basic grammar to approximately GCSE level and provides practice exercises with solutions for each learning point. I particularly like the layout which is clear with plenty of room for pencilled notes! Review: Very good book - I loved the practice exercises at the end of every lesson. You can tell straight away if you've grasped it or have to go back for another read

Great Book!!!!
I bought a hard copy of the book and I love it. I can't imagine using this book on a kindle and don't understand why you would to be honest? The book is easy to follow, simple to understand and enjoyable to learn from. With this book you aren't being taught a language parrot fashion but actively learning sentences within 3 pages of opening it. I'm absolutely thrilled with it and enjoy it so much! I attempted Swiss German 3 years ago and I walked out of the class knowing nothing. Not the case with this book.

Christmas stocking filler present requested by my daughter.
Having done A level German many years ago I think my daughter wanted to "brush up" on the language.

WARNING: Not for beginners! Quick reference rather than "easy learning"
Just a tip - this book is not for beginners (ignore the introduction where it says that it is). Do not buy this book if you are starting out or expecting something to crystallise German grammar into a clear set of rules. It takes a certain degree of knowledge for granted (including vocabulary, sentence structure, and complex grammar), which means the book and associated exercises are really designed for someone with a reasonable working knowledge of German grammar already. I would see it more as a quick reference guide for someone who has already completed lessons or study at a minimum of recent GCSE-level German and is looking to a quick bit of revision for a test, not as a book to supplement learning. Otherwise the layout is okay (no splitting of tables across two pages, for example), the font is clear and easy to read, and the exercises (about 4 sets, e.g. Exercise 1 - 4; .a) through to i), per chapter) come with solutions at the back of the book. There are tables that list basic forms of words, for example, using different tenses (nominative, accusative, genitive, dative) dotted around. The chapters are short and in bullet-point format (hence the "quick reference" style). It's quite big for what it is (a bit smaller than A4), but it does mean the font is easy to read. This was a review of the print version (2nd Edition). I imagine the tables wouldn't translate to e-reader format well.
