Going to mind my granddaughter today and I'm looking forward to seeing her reaction to it.

It is very cute, quite small but expected that. The reason i returned it though is because the switch to turn it off & on was kinda inconvenient. They put it under the.bottom where the winder is & the winder covers the switch. So every time u want to use the switch u have to remove the winder first. By switch I mean to operate the lights, winder is meant to turn the merry go round. Hope this helps you🇺🇸

As pretty as it looks in the pictures is how it looks in person. Its made primarily of plastic with a spinning clockwork base made of stainless steel. There are two holes in that rotating base that the operator sticks two fingers into respectively and twists it (clockwork mechanisms, like clocks of old, are cranked clockwise or rightwards). A word of advice, turn on the beautiful color changing LED's with the black switch on the bottom before starting the clockwork mechanism up. In function, it is simple yet timeless. The clockwork mechanism plays a beautiful song with the music box while that same clockwork rotates the carousel, making the horses spin like the real thing. Turn off the lights and pull the curtains on the windows for maximum effect. Pricewise, I personally feel that it is a little overpriced, I've seen handmade music boxes made of higher quality materials from skilled artisans go for less than 32 dollars, but it is not too large of a hang up for me. Music boxes and carousels have a way of bringing joy to me and my partner that any price under fifty I would personally risk for a great one. Bringing it full circle, this is a great carousel, charming and pretty, any child or child at heart would love this as a gift.

The design was not crisp and clear and there wasn't much contrast to the coloring. Also the music portion itself was very disappointing. The only really positive thing I can say is that, after I returned it, the refund was very prompt.

I got this Carousel music box as an adoption gift for a 9 year old girl. Adoption date pending. It’s very well made. It’s a good height at 7 inches. It is very delicate looking; perfect for a 9 year old girl. Only issue is that the slide switch that allows you to turn the LED lights on and off is located underneath the round steel base. You need to stop the steel base so that one of the two ½” holes aligns with the slide switch so you can reach in your finger to move the slide. You will want to shut off the LED lights when not in use as the music box takes three LR44 ‘button-style’ batteries that are installed in series against a spring. Installing the batteries is not easy. I made the mistake of removing the batteries so I could report to you what number they are. It was difficult to push all 3 batteries back in, against that spring, without a battery shooting out. What finally worked for me was to support the music box between my knees while sitting in a chair. After installing the first two batteries I applied a strip of adhesive tape over those first two batteries. Then while pushing back the spring I pushed in the 3rd battery. I’m going to include a pack of LR44 batteries along with the carousel. The carousel is part of the gift. I replacing the worn out batteries down the road will be my follow-on gift.
