The best chess timer to buy for tournaments. Official FIDE chess timer. Chess timer perfection.
Addressed small issues from previous timers, now it's as good as it gets. Official FIDE chess clock. Lots of presets. Intuitive adjustments for tournament directors. Shows seconds at all times. Smooth, quiet operation during play. The screen has much better contrast than the previous generation. The bright red color is a little garish, but I prefer it over faux wood. I wish they made a charcoal grey version or offered shell upgrades that fit over top like a kleenex box coozy. Anyway, if you play chess in tournaments this is the best option to bring. If you play in North America there's a new updated North America version that has a slightly lower MSRP. They would be the only two I would buy right now. If I needed to plug into chess tracking software I'd get the DGT 3000, but I would be wary of it being from a dated generation of timers. It seems it could be due for a refresh. I'm counting on this timer lasting me at least 10 years. One small thing, the box didn't state that it took (and included) AA batteries. So if you need that info, here it is.

Professional level chess chock
The DGT 25000 is a really good chess clock, it may be the best one at the time of this review. Adjusting the time controls so simple and it all has also thirty six different presets. The instructions state that the included AA batteries will last for up to 4,000 hours. Finally, the digital display is large and has excellent contrast.

Great quality, great display!
The display and this is gorgeous... Very sleek and can do just about anything you ask if it. Love it

Perhaps the best of the standard DGT clocks for over-the-board play
The display is large, and the playing times are super clear. The fact that the white 'side to move' indicator is the only white part to pop up (the top of this bar and the body of the timer are red) allow a player to see whose turn it is to move from a significant distance - crucial if you're up and around getting a coffee or soda to drink. The mechanics of the timer are smooth and firm. Common playing time formats are displayed on the bottom of the timer and easily set. Non-standard time formats are fairly easy to set too. All the time formats I play were listed on the bottom of the device; I did not even have to read the (detailed) instructions.

This is a great clock but it could be better.
This is a great clock except for one thing, These kinds of clocks with the tape recorder pause/play buttons have no intuitive Start button. Almost everyone as white loses a second at the start of the gane as the black player tries to figure out how to get the timer started. Do you push the play button or the pause/play button, Who knows? If you have to read the instructions...fail. Resetting to start sane thing. Here is fix recommendation: make the clock paddle have a tactile middle position for stopping the clock, and for it to be in standby before play, then black can start whites clock in the normal way. Power button on bottom short click could be used to reset game time, and a long hold to power down. Get rid of pause/play button.

Batteries are included
I couldn't tell from the box or the Amazon description whether batteries are included. The manufacturer's web site does say it, though: It's powered by 2 AA batteries (included).

Worthy successor to the 2010!
This clock is simply good--really, really good! I've owned the most used clocks over the last 30+ plus years, from the plastic mechanical clock to the dgt 2010, and after just two sessions with the 2500 I can say that it's the finest clock I've used. Everything, from the display to the ease of setting to the ergonomics, has been significantly upgraded. Do I prefer the form factor of the 2010? Yes, but I suspect that the more I play with the 2500, the better it will look. A truly outstanding clock, especially since I got it on Amazon for $10 less than the 2010 it replaces!

Öğrencilerim için almıştım. Gayet güzel. İstediğim zaman ayarlarını rahatlıkla yapabiliyorum. Örneğin 7+3. Hazır zaman kontrolleri de çok güzel. Ama fiyatı pahalı. O yüzden 4 yıldız

Ottimo timer, acquistato come regalo.

Have owned many chess clocks over the years - this is a clear 'best buy'.

Fonctionne parfaitement ! Mon fils en ai ravi. Réglage un peu difficile pour la mise en route.
