OKUMATrout Rod

I’m a big fan of this rod. I bought one for myself and liked it enough to get another for my dad. I have quite a few trout rods: a Phenix Feather, an Ugly Stik Elite, and I’ve owned two St. Croix Trout Series rods. I’d rank this one second after the Phenix Feather, but it costs much less. It’s very similar to the St. Croix in feel and performance, but both of my St. Croix rods broke within a few months, while this one has landed plenty of 18-inch trout without any problems. It’s sensitive, durable, and affordable. I’ve used it with three different light trout reels: a Pflueger President, an Okuma Helios, and a Shimano Sienna. It works great with all of them. For the price, it’s hard to beat and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good trout rod without spending a lot. Only complaint I have is they ship it loose in a cardboard box, but it came undamaged both times, so not a big deal.

This is a very strong rod. I caught multiple double digit catfishes off this rod. 3-4lb bass. Paired it with 4lb mono, This rod bends but does not break. Best value for the money. Makes catching heavier fish that much more fun with this ultralight rod. My newest obsession. Catching double digits with an ultralight setup.

Own three. Love them for crappie n perch. Caught a 18lb cat on one and it held up !

Let me start off by saying that I love the rod! It's super sensitive and feels great in the hand. I was less than pleased however with the shipping I was getting. They kept putting the rod in to short of a box so I got 2 delivered snapped clean in half! If you can find it locally I'd very much recommend buying it in person so you don't have to deal with broken rods like myself.

I bought my third Okuma trout rod in July, 2025. Until today, I enjoyed using the rods. Todau, October 17, 2025, however, as I was making a routine cast, the tip of my newest Okuma rod broke! When I returned home from fishing today, I was shocked at what a lousy warranty Okuma offers! This is a $40 rod. Okuma wamts ME to pay for my shipping the defective rod to them. REALLY adding insult to injury, they also require a check for $19.95, to cover return shipping!! This is the worst warranty I've ever seen on any fishing item!!

I’ve never owned an Okuma product but this one left a fantastic impression. So much so that I’ve bought another as a gift for a friend. This rod is surprisingly durable for an ultralight, has nice sensitivity and a great backbone. I’ve caught everything from tiny wild trout to trophy size 7lb rainbows and 5lb pickerel. This rod can do it all!

I didn't give it 5 stars because the top slips off a little too easily. Otherwise very happy with this purchase.

It's fairly light for an ultra light. I personally would prefer somewhere between their ultra light and light, but this is totally fine for typical lake trout. No real reason to spend more if that's all you're going for. Don't need a super sophisticated setup for this type of thing.

I am absolutely in love with this rod!!! So much better than my old ultra light rod, and i've been absolutely slaying the panfish since I got this! I also caught the smallest bluegill ive ever seen in my life tonight because its a very sensitive rod. I had to order another and its currently on its way.
