InstaMorph Reusable Moldable Plastic for Crafts,Sculpting,Cosplay,More 3oz

What a lifesaver I use these for about six months until I could afford to go to a dentist. I broke my front tooth and when I found these, it was a godsend. Very easy to use put about 5 to 6 little beats in hot water. Let them melt. Take them out, mold to your desired shape. Just takes a few minutes to do no taste no smell really a good product.

I purchased this on a whim as I was restocking some hardware and glue and it came up with great reviews. When it first arrived I thought I would just try it out to see how it worked -- since it is supposed to re-useable it wouldn't be a waste and if it didn't really work as well as everyone said then I could return it. It was VERY easy to use. I put 1 cup of water in the microwave for 1 minute and my digital thermometer read almost exactly 140 degrees (I have tried it since at even higher temps and it still works great -- just test the water temp before plunging your hand in!). Once hot I dumped in 2 tablespoons of the little beads waited 2 minutes then picked up the rubbery lump right out of the water and started forming it. It was very moldable (and fun) and set up hard and strong in about 3 minutes. But that was just testing it out... The "Very Handy and Surprisingly Effective" part came later when my wife asked me to fix her toilet? The plastic nut that holds the handle had cracked and while the company graciously said they would ship a new one for free, they also said it will take several weeks. Several weeks without a flushable toilet in the Master Bedroom isn't an option so, I heated up a cup of water and dropped in about a table spoon of InstaMorph. Even 1 tablespoon was more than I needed, but one of the great parts about this stuff is you just put the unused stuff back - no waste. After 2 minutes in the warm water I took it out and formed it into something like a gummy worm, about as thick as a straw and 2 inches long then simply wrapped it around the threads and squished and formed it a bit to make sure it got in deep. A couple of minutes later it was HARD PLASTIC and holding on very tight. I used pliers to un-screw it and looked in amazement at this perfectly formed replacement nut (I could easily have used a crescent wrench to make flat parts for tightening too). Looking at it installed I realized I probably won't even need to put the replacement nut on when it comes. I will try to use that moment as a reminder to come back and update this, but know that if I haven't updated this yet, then it is probably still working. Clean up... none. No mess or fuss, just dump the water (it is all non-toxic) and put any leftover bits away to reheat and reuse later. I did decide to form them into several long strands instead of one big lump, though, just because they will heat up faster and it seems like a useful shape to start with. Net conclusion is that I'm really impressed with this stuff and recommend that everyone have a little bit around for quick fixes.

Performed just as described. Melt point is exact. Easy to shape when melted. Easy to cool and harden and remelts when placed in the right temp water. I keep a small pan of hot water on standby with a thermometer to ensure temp regulation until I'm done working, or reworking, my projects. This also allows you to add or subtract as required. Take note: adding new melted material to existing hardened forms never works well unless both parts are in full "melt" form.

InstaMorph is an interesting, if slightly finicky accomplice for all sorts of unexpected uses. The container yields BB-sized balls of mostly opaque white plastic, similar to the appearance of the robot skin in I, Robot. When dropped in a bowl of hot water, they'll turn transparent within fifteen seconds and stick together (and to the bowl). You can then drain the water and prod the resulting soft and sticky mass onto any wet surface to mold. The plastic doesn't retain enough heat to burn. Molding properties are similar to modeling clay. It's very easy to join and smooth edges with your hands or flatten a piece as if it were cookie dough. You can manipulate the shape for about three minutes until it begins to harden. It'll take another ten minutes to reach final hardness, or you can speed the process by putting it in the freezer for a few minutes or running it under cold water. Beware: InstaMorph gets extremely tacky once it begins to set. If you're molding it on surface that it's not supposed to stick to (e.g., the batteries under the battery door cover I just made) and you make a mistake, don't attempt to pull it off while it's still partially pliable. You'll just leave a plastic residue that'll be almost impossible to remove later. If you wait until it hardens, it'll come off in one piece and you can start again. When totally hard, strength is similar to standard, non-specialized toy plastic. It is not at all brittle and will bend under load. While you can cut very thin (under 1/16") sections with scissors, it's almost impossible to tear at any thickness. I created a simple tube about 1" in diameter and 1/8" thick and was able to stand on it with minimal deflection. You can't weaken the material with handling. Even concerted rubbing doesn't put enough heat into it, though a fingernail can scratch it. If desired, the final product can be painted or epoxied to other surfaces. It's best not to store remnant pieces in thick shapes because they'll take much longer to heat through. Just make a thin pancake and cut it later with a pair of scissors. The only negative of this product is that it has a noticeable, albeit subtle, scent. Handling will convey this scent to your fingers. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a residue, but any smell at all implies at least some material transfer. Given that the FDA approves medical grades for use in the human body, I'm not terribly concerned about health consequences, though I probably wouldn't attempt to microwave this product.

I used it to make a replacement zipper sleeve for my backpack. It really is a very tough material. However, it's not as malleable as I expected during the molding phase. So, you won't be able to do any intricate work like making gears or such like I wanted to do. Also, it doesn't stay mold-able for very long. You have maybe 1 minute out of water before it firms up enough to prevent any further work. I tried to fix my a hole in my acrylic retainers with this after seeing how many people have used this to make teeth but that was a failure. It has no adhesive properties so the patch keeps falling off. Another thing I tried was to color this with a permanent market but that didn't work either because it's not porous. Tip: if you accidently heated up too much of this stuff, take the remainder and flatten it into a very thin sheet. If you ball up the extra, the heat of the water will have great difficulty penetrating to the center and you will be forced to throw that out.

Nothing beats this SPECIFIC brand... INSTAMORPH. NOTHING. THIS IS 100% the absolute BEST brand to use. I use it to make a missing tooth. I have tired so many other brands just to test it all out and this is #1. First, bc it will not lose it's form no matter what u eat or drink. It won't discolor easily and it has not weird taste about it. Others have a soapy or chemical taste to it. Others will instantly get soft or start to discolor eating or drinking the slightest thing. It hardens in seconds so molding the shape and positioning it, u have to be quick. Others take a very long time like 5-10 mins just to harden and be solid. The only thing that could make this brand better is if it took a tad bit longer to harden like maybe at least a min and a half would be perfect but still I'd rather a better product then more time to mold it. After getting the hang of making it you don't need a lot of time anyway. So, it's better to have a solid overall product to make a tooth then one that gives you longer time to shape or fit it bc they all just melt the min u drink a cup of coffee. This stuff won't budge. It'll start to discolor over time, but that's normal but at least it's not as fast as others. Just remember...if you eat a HOT bowl of mac n cheese or a really HOT bowl of ramen soup it might discolor slightly but I've been able to wear it for 3 weeks straight eating normally. This is a big deal when the last thing you wanna do every day is fix a tooth. I even played around with it to see what it would look like if I moulded it all over my teeth to see what it would look like and it looked pretty realistic. It didn't look fake it actually looked pretty decent like I had veneers or something. I took the end of a dental floss pick and made the indentations/ lines in between each tooth to shape the teeth. The water has to be boiling hot to make the beads moldable, it's not as simple to remove the product if for instance u use it to fill a gap or a filling but all you'll have to do is keep swishing a tolerable amount of hot water in your mouth to eventually soften it up. It's worth noting tho, if you are using this to fill a gap or space between ur teeth....DO NOT use TOO MUCH product bc it will put pressure on ur teeth (between them). Once it's set it won't be able to move naturally like ur teeth gums do so just use a minimal amount to avoid any pressure, and it'll be fine. As for the SELLER, I had a GREAT experience! I ordered it in the afternoon and I got it the next day. Thank you, I'll definitely be purchasing here from now on.

Problem: 1) Job interview tomorrow 2) Very obvious missing tooth 3) No job=no dental insurance (and deductibles were insane even when I did have insurance). I was very nervous about this, and quite upset that I could not find this anywhere in town (I hate mail ordering anything). Temptooth is quite a bit more expensive and it would take 3-5 days to get it. I ordered this yesterday, paid $5 for one day shipping, I got it today before noon. Right off the bat, within minutes, I was able to make a pretty decent tooth. Within a half hour I made a couple. At the moment, they're sitting in coffee, hoping they get a bit of a stain to match the rest of my teeth, so I will include photos as soon as I'm done staining them. I saw some negative reviews, I'm not sure what the problem was for them, but this stuff works just fine for me. Sure Temptooth might be easier to mold, but this isn't bad at all, you just need to be a little creative. The teeth fit very well, won't fall out and even before staining, they aren't that noticeable from a few feet. I'm quite confident they'll work out just fine for the interview, and I can always make better ones later. This product is amazing to have around the house. I gave some to my daughter and she had a great time playing with it and making a little teddy bear that hugs a pencil. It's actually quite fun to work with . I could think of thousands of things I could fix around the house with this stuff. In fact if I was in an emergency situation, this stuff would be extremely valuable, as you could shape many useful things out of it within minutes just using some hot water. Not sure what the negative reviews are about.

I bought this item thinking that I will be able to easily mold things or remold (as advertised ) but it appeared to be uneasy in molding and after the first boiling process, the substance becomes very sold even with reboiling!! Don’t recommend it.

Excellent just as described!

Heard about this stuff from a cosplayer and decided to give it a shot for some small things worbla might not be ideal for. After some trial and error I've determined this is a great alternative. I used it in some candy molds, but be advised if you're using it IN something put baby powder, or Pam or something to act as a barrier. I've now got one mold that is lost as it plastic is not comin outta that sucker. Also if you find after it's set you need to make some adjustments you can just reheat it with your heat gun and it becomes pliable - no need to toss it.

Got this to make a small part for my camera but I'm sure I will find other uses for it. Highly recommended !

Works better than I thought and also is super strong once molded, easy to use as well!
