Great grinder - very happy with it!
I bought this grinder because I was seriously temped to buy a REALLY GREAT grinder. I had my sights set on the Aergrind made by Knock - but at ยฃ125 I couldn't justify it considering I wasn't even sure if I would use it as much as my ideal inner budding coffee nerd thought I might. As a compromise I picked this grinder up because it had decent ratings by coffee nerds and was in a much more affordable price range at nearly ยฃ100 cheaper. This was a good move it turns out, because while I like to think I'm the sort of person who will freshly grind my coffee every morning for my cuppa - it turns out.. I'd rather have it NOW than Fantastic. The fantastic can wait till i'm awake enough to full appreciate it. So.. I find I'm using it a few times a week when I want a really nice cup of coffee to enjoy, and for ยฃ32 - I can justify that. So.. the Hario has become my 'entry-level' coffee grinder, until such a time that I fall off the deep end and cough up ยฃ125 for a really amazing one. And as an entry level grinder - it's great.. I love it. it's easy, not messy, haven't smashed my fingers yet.. looks good in the cupboard. criticism - The sticky bar code - others have mentioned it. it took me ages to get it off - I don't know what kind of double strong super-glue epoxy gorilla adhesive they're using but it looks like crap, and it took me hours of soaking, scraping and using isopropyl alcohol to finally get it off without damaging the plastic.

Great Burr Grinder, handicapped only by the lackcluster durability of the plastic shell.
This grinder does the job. For two years, it has done a fantastic job at grinding my coffee evenly. It was my first ever burr grinder and, at least for me, it has done a great job. The handle feels good to use, the appearance is ok, the coffee comes out even. However, the main flaw of this grinder that I feel the need to point out is DURABILITY. After those 2 years of daily-use, the screw section of the plastic container broker, meaning I could no longer attach it to the grinder section and I was forced to get a new grinder. However, at the price point of ~23 pounds, I still believe it is a good entry point, thus the 4 star. If you're looking for something to last you a decade, go look elsewhere. However, if you're someone who is just now getting into coffee grinding or trying out burr grinders, this is a good, cheap entry point.

Does what it says on the tin
If you want to try what is classed as 'fresher' and 'smoother' ground/filter coffee, by grinding your own beans, but don't want to go all in on the expensive side then this is pretty much the perfect 'starter' kit for you to begin your life long party conversation piece about how much better freshly ground beans are compared to buying pre-packed pre-ground beans ๐ It does what it says on the tin, it grinds beans using easily maintained and cleaned ceramic burrs, which are very easily adjusted between fine and not so fine (coarse), it just takes a couple of goes to work out what adjustment setting is right for you. A full container of beans gives you approx 20-22g of ground beans (level 2 marker) and depending on your fitness level takes approx 5 mins of turning the handle (clockwise) which is enough for 2 cups of coffee. This is the experimentation but, as depending what information you read some places say 12g of ground coffee should be used for every 150ml of water, yet most measuring spoons are 7g including the one supplied with the Sage Precision Pro Brewer and they recommend 1 level spoon per 150ml? so it may take a few attempts to get your preferred taste sorted. Other than that after a number of uses I find that this is easy and straightforward to use, gives me a great pre coffee workout and I can honestly taste the difference between 'fresh' and 'pre' ground coffee beans, come Christmas I'll be looking to upgrade to one that's a bit bigger ( or even electric) as there's 2 of us and we usually drink 2 cups each, which means a 10 minute post coffee workout = a bit much at 6am ๐ Highly recommended as a let's see what all the fuss is about coffee beans grinder ๐

Brilliant grinder
Really easy to use and does the job. I always get a great taste of coffee in the morning with this and it doesn't take long to grind the beans. You also get a little bit of a workout in the arms, too. It is easy to measure the exact amount needed for my coffee maker because of its design, which was my greatest concern, but the design makes it easy with zero wastage.

Superb grinder for espresso
Let me state here that I think the โHario MMCS-2B Skerton PRO Millโ is superb (because it takes a while to get to the Hario grinder in this review). I'd contemplated getting a grinder for a long time. Would it be worth the investment, am I not happy enough with the ready-ground coffee that I've been using for decades now, etc? Over the last thirty (or possibly more years) I've had numerous coffee makers โ quite a few moka pots and a fair few domestic espresso-cappuccino type machines, but have never had a grinder though I've wondered about it often. Well I bought an electric grinder (initially, that is before finding that what I needed was the โHarioโ). That electric grinder seemed to tick all the right boxes. It was a ceramic burr grinder and had numerous settings including grinding for espresso. Coffee-wise I only drink espresso. I say that for reference only, as I hope I'm not a coffee snob. I looked forward to my freshly ground beans of a coffee bean blend that I'd been buying ready ground. The end result was a disaster. The electric machine could not grind the beans finely enough for my brew. I read yet more reviews and articles about grinders, and it seemed to me, reading between the lines, that one needed to spend plenty โ much more than I had done, to get a satisfactory electric grinder that would give a satisfactory grind for espresso, for good strong intense espresso โ and not the insipid drink that came as a result of the electric grinder that I had bought previously. All those articles that I'd read made me realise that if I went for a manual burr grinder hat I could then get fantastic espresso from it! It would also be cheaper than the electric grinder. For my espresso I am at the moment using a โDe'Longhi Dedica Espresso Machine, Coffee and Cappuccino Makerโ which is inexpensive but good as far as I'm concerned). I make three or four brews a day (6 to 8 espresso shots) and so the โHarioโ has been used many dozens of times over the last five months since I started using it and it is as good as it was on day one. There are grind settings from coarse (for drip coffee) to fine for espresso and all shades in between. I'm finding the two finest setting to be too fine for my brew and have been using it set at the third finest setting to get a superb cup of coffee. The โHarioโ grinder has made a definite improvement to the quality of my espresso. The improvement is not so overwhelming that I couldn't live without the grinder though. I could, I guess quite happily use pre-ground coffee again but haven't done so in the last five months or so since I got the grinder.

Perfect Starter Grinder
Perfect introduction to grinding your own beans. Easy to use and clean. Not bad for the price. The only issue is that there is no way to keep the grind setting. If you dismantle the grinder to wash it (fully) it will take a few brews to dial in the grind size again.

Great for grinding coffee beans
I have a coffee maker with integrated grinder, but wanted one to use for decaf beans for later In the day. Have to say i love this one. The measure is handy, but after a few uses itโs easy to judge the amount of beans to use. Grinds enough for 2 cups. Itโs easy to adjust the bean grind and once youโve got it how you want it, it stays set. It takes just under 2 mins to get a full grind for 2 cups and really is quite easy. You do get a bit of an arm work out, but itโs good exercise lol. I have osteoarthritis in my hands, but manage easily to use it. I have a brush with my coffee maker for cleaning the grinder, so give it a brush out after each use. The instructions show you how to take it apart to wash the grinders, but havenโt done that yet. Itโs so much better than the electric blade grinder that Iโve got, which gives a really uneven grind in comparison. Highly recommend.

Don't make high hopes
3 Stars, that's how much I can rate this product after about 6 months of using it. One of the first things I've noticed is: MADE IN CHINA, yes, lots of people would argue that Hario products are made in Japan, well, this one is not, it have a sticker with Made in China right on it. Another thing I've noticed is that when I grind the coffee beans I get stuck, a lot, I think it's suppose to work smoothly, but it doesn't, no matter what settings I use, it gets stuck a few times... I use this grinder for Moka pot, it's quite capable to make decent grind suitable for this, which is a bit coarser that the fine espresso grind, so it's fine for Moka pot. I wouldn't use this for espresso though, it's more suitable for pour over brewing. I've noticed there are some coarser pieces of coffee no matter what setting I use, so the consistency of grinding is not that good. One of the drums just runs freely when you open the grinder and shake it a little bit, I think it's supposed to be a little bit more fixed, this affects the space between the drums when grinding, I've noticed that on one side the space is bigger than the other side and maybe from here the inconsistency of the grinding, the distance between drums should always be the same all around that circle. However, there are some good things about this product, the built is quite strong, it's a good price (I guess you get what you pay for), i'ts portable, you can take it anywhere without worries, it won't break so easily :) I'd say it's not my best purchase and I'm looking for another (maybe more expensive) grinder.

Really great manual grinder!
The product arrived in good condition and works well. The motion to grind is smooth and quite effortless. The grinds are consistent and fine enough for me to use with my Aeropress! Highly recommend spending the money to get a good and reliable manual grinder that can help you achieve good quality coffee.

Works as nicely as it looks.
I had been searching through all the grinders that look like glorified pepper mills and not finding one that gave me that YES gut reaction I happened on the link to the original of this model in a blog on cold brew coffee and followed the link to arrive at this upgraded model. I loved the look and the reviews, got the YES I was looking for, and ordered 2, one for home and one for work. The grinder has a nice sturdy feel to it. The base is fairly thick clear glass with no bubbles or defects. and the rubber base thing keeps the unit firmly in place on the counter while grinding. The grinder is efficient and didn't require an egregious amount of work to grind the 8 tablespoons of beans. The grinder handle is sufficiently long enough to provide more than adequate torque to provide a nice smooth grinding action. Adjustment of the grind size requires the base to be removed and the bottom nut advanced or retarded to close or open the gap between the grinding faces, and there is no grind size guide other than your best guess based on that gap. As I'm only grinding coarse for cold brew coffee that's not an issue for me, however, if you perform multiple grind sizes this adjustment process might get old. There is also nothing in the grind adjustment to prevent locking the faces against each other or getting then to close and damaging them when going for a really fine grind. Finally, for my purpose this grinder is ideal. I got rid of the noisy electric burr grinder that disturbed my morning peace and produced as much fine grind as it did coarse.

Major step up from electric flat blade grinder
Upgraded from electric grinder with flat blade, which had little control or consistency. Adjustable burs give consistent and controllable grind for reliable flavor profiles. Takes up little space in the cabinet and could easily be taken on a trip. Very durable material should hold up to accidental drops. The benefits of good coffee outweighs the 'exercise' of hand grinding.
