What can I say, but WOW! We agonized and finally decided to get this flute because my daughter's primary flute needed to be re-padded and needed some maintenance. Unfortunately, even though we took it in a full month before school, they're still not done with it. We were ready to get a loaner, but at the price of this one, we feel like it's a good backup at least for practice. From the moment I opened the box I was very impressed! Packaged with a lot of care: the keys were held down with wedges of plastic to keep the keys from moving around in shipping. Each section of the flute was individually wrapped, and the included cleaning kit was a pleasant surprise (good quality as well) the pads look good and are fit to the chamber nice and snug. After I inspected it, my daughter immediately started playing. It sounds great and I gotta say, I can't really tell the difference. As backup instruments go, this is amazing. I have some doubts about the pads going the distance but time will tell. My daughter says that the keys are a little stiff so we will be applying some key oil in some spots and see if, like other reviewers have noted: it just needs to be broken in a bit. If things change, I will update this review, but for now, WOW!

We purchased a regular flute from the music store that works with our school with a huge price tag. We were advised by our school’s instrument distributor not to purchase a colored instrument due to a huge difference in quality. So we purchased one anyway from Amazon as my son wanted a colored one for his performances or to use to practice that he wouldn’t stress about dropping or losing. I regret not buying this sooner and should have tried this route first. My son has played flute for 3 years and quickly tried this one out as soon as it arrived. Is it the same heavy quality as his one we spent $1k+ on? No. But they literally sound almost identical and you cannot hear any noticeable difference. This would be great for any beginner. He is now switching to it as his primary instrument and we are retiring his original expensive flute until a day comes where he may need it again. 5 stars.

I bought this for my son to start in band class this year. We all know how it is in the first stages of things...so we went with this. I am super impressed with the quality of the flute. Very simple and easy to take care of. It comes with a nice case and is very well made for the price tag and being the first flute! I highly recommend this item for any parents getting their child involved in band for the first time.
