Probably one or the best entry level whetstones
Ok, so I've been looking at getting one of these bad boys for months now. I wasn't scared of difficulty in using it, just wanted to make sure I got the correct one to start with. I've spent days (worth of hours) online checking reviews, YouTube videos and blogs, as there are lot of "beginner" options but also many videos saying "get this brand bro, worth investment" but honestly that one would have been more than my knives. I finally decided on Sharp Pebble for a few reasons. Price wise it's not a bad deal at all. I believe you should get a decent quality product, even if you have cheap knives. It comes with a little support in case you are new to this and don't know the angle you should be sharpening at. The Grit sides are possibly perfect for a beginner. After countless videos online I found 1000 to be the upper limit of "coarse" and 6000 to be a good middle options for sharpening. Unless your knives are completely blunt in which case you will need something like a 400, then a 1500-ish then a 6k, this is perfect for the occasional 2-3 week (even 4) sharpening. You can do a few quick slides on the 6k side every week on the most used knives (depending on usage) and once every 2-4 weeks give it a full run on both sides. Definitely recommend watching multiple videos from multiple channels on how to use these and sharpen your knives. Everyone has something slightly different to say/add that may be more relevant for your case, so absorb and use your head. Overall I'm incredibly happy with this product and will forever be the way I sharpen my knives.

Very good stone
The stone came quickly and undamaged. The first thing I noticed was that it felt like a quality product - the stone, base and rubber insert are all really well made. The grit accuracy is spot on. I've used it on a dozen dull knives and it's done exactly what I expected - provide a brilliant edge. The only minor negative I can add is that the non slip base isn't totally perfect. You need to ensure that it's on a surface that will provide a fraction of resistance - however this really is quite obvious so it did not effect the 5 start rating I've given. Buy with absolute confidence. This does not flake out crumble like cheaper products. Moral of the story is don't cheap out. Spend the extra and this will pay for itself in the end.

Great product !!
Well packaged and in general a lovely stone. Came with a nice rubber footed wooden base to prevent it from sliding around along with the angle guide. I’ve never tried using a stone before and my first attempt wasn’t brilliant. I tried it on an old kitchen knife for about an hour but clearly wasn’t doing it right. In the box was a link to a guide on how to do it properly and once followed I produced some far better results. I’m now slowly getting better and better and knives a pretty sharp. My advice is follow the instructions even soaking the stone before use and ensure it is kept wet throughout. Take your time and don’t rush!! My only criticism is the angle guide which is robust enough for the job but it’s so tight that it actually scratched the metal blade sliding it on and off. I’ve now started to put some tape on the blade to protect it before hand. Sadly my stone developed a very slight crack on one side but after a quick email to the supplier a brand new stone was delivered a couple of days later free of charge.. No fuss or hassle! Well done for their customer service! Would definitely buy again.

Good stone
Good stone. Sharpened a sabatier. Angle thing not very helpful, easier by hand. Minimum half a thumb if you have small, thin hands/fingers and your angle should be good. The base slipped 2 times. But my kitchen worktop isn't the most traction resistant so if you have marble or very polished surface I recommend you use that surface instead. First try didn't come out too evenly but with practice I could probably just sharpen a knife and shave with it instead of a Gilet. I spent 30 min and I'm very happy with the resulting sharpness. A ripe tomato test is passed so paper should be no problem. Getting a 400 with a 1000 grit stone as well because my Sabatier has some chipping I would like to remove

Affordable and effective
This is the first stone I've bought and I'm very pleased with this product. The 1000 grit side sharpened all of my blunt knives, which is only possible when paired with good technique, and the other side polished well. However they got you covered as it comes with access to an ebook with easy to follow instructions on how to use the stone. Very professional and is perfect for anyone who is willing to put a little effort into reviving those blunt knives. Chopping and slicing has never been easier as you can let the knife do all the work.

Great product, great price
Arrived quickly. Follow up email to check I was happy with the product, which I am. I keep my knives sharp, as I'm a chef, but recently bought a few Japanese knives and my usual sharpener wouldn't be good enough. So I used this on all of my knives and boom, back to razor sharp edges. Ebook is handy for reference, and it's easy to use. From what I've seen it's a great product for a great price. Recommended.

A nice product that actually works
Having many blunt knives in my kitchen I needed something that actually works. I've used honing steels before but they started to become less effective. I read the reviews and went for it. Really impressed with product and communication from seller. They sent me instructions on how to use it which was great as I'm a newbie to sharpening stones. Took my time on the least expensive knife and after 20mins or so was really impressed with the results. It is definitely an 'art form' to get it just right but with practise I'm sure I will master it. The guide helps a lot when you first start to make sure the angle is just right. This is well made and should last a long time.

Did a good job, but you need to know what you are doing.
This was not my first sharpening stone, but it was the first one with a 1000/6000 grain. I only have used it on two knives yet: A large butchers knife and a swiss army pocket knife. The butchers knife did OK, but I was hoping the rubber base under the wooden block would keep the stone better in place. It is really hard to keep your angle (which basically determines the quality of your work). As soon as it gets wet (and it will!), it slides. At the end I found an anti slip mat I use in the car to solve that. Working with the guide does not work for me, as the block simply is not big enough with the strokes I make (Yes: sharpening IS a personal matter. The results on the swiss army knife were phenomenal. Anyone who got one knows how sharp they are new and long for those days after a couple of years of use. The 1000 side does a good job, but the 6000 side polishes the edge in a way that is not even possible in the factory. I can shave myself with it now. I'm going to invest some money in a grinding stone that keeps the surface of the stone level as I see that when I use this regulary, it will hollow out soon. I would have given 5 stars if the rubber base would not slip on the kitchen counter top when wet.

The best kitchen tool of all
If you are sick to death of dull knives that make food prep a misery, get this simple and totally effective whetstone. Supremely easy to use and gives a professional result. I was able to restore a whole drawer full of cheap steel blades to near factory-sharp condition for the price of a little elbow grease. In fact, sharpening knives on a whetstone is great forearm and shoulder exercise so both the knives AND you will be better off after! My only gripe would be the non-inclusion of a flattening stone with the 1000/6000 version I bought. After one heavy session of knife grinding, the whetstone itself will need some smoothing and flattening. Included in the other two versions only. The blade angle-mount they throw in instead is disappointing as it doesn't fit every type of knife so has limited usefulness. The manufacturer should include the smoothing stone with every whetstone type. Other than that, I am totally thrilled with the ease of use and the fantastic results.

Works pefetly well. It takes time to get your knives right but that's the nature of the job I'm afraid.
