would these speakers work well as left and right front bookshelf speakers?

Thanks for your question. A speaker located in a cabinet space will work just fine but its sound will be effected by cavity resonance. You are correct, a sealed cabinet speaker would typically behave better inside of a cabinet vs a rear ported one but the RP-500C II may still sound good. We can recommend our RP-404C II, it has a sealed cabinet design.

Hello, first let me say that I have never been disappointed by Klipsh speakers. The answer to your question will depend on other speakers in your system, size of room and distance from speakers. I use Klipsh rp 500 center speaker with my tower rp6000. I can hear dialog very clearly even considering that I have some hearing loss in the middle spectrum. My advice to you is to chat with the people at Crutchfield. They are experts and can advise you. Hope this helps

Per il video ...rende piacevole anche una telecronaca di discesa libera !!! Per il film rende in modo superlativo ..arrivando a riprodurre in modo veritiero le versioni audio in italiano che non siano all' altezza delle versioni originali. Klypsch vs Polk

I replaced a Polk center speaker the the Klipsch RP-500C ll. Now I can understand what the female actors are saying. It's wonderful! Smaller cabinet and much, much, larger sound. I'm old and thought my hearing was the problem. Wrong, it was the center speaker after all.
