Two from One Jelly Roll Quilts: 18 Designs to Make Your Fabric Go Further

As a beginning quilter I'm always looking for books which can teach me something. My eye was cought because on the cover it shows great free motion quilting. The patterns in the book are great. The only thing is, the free motion quilting is not done by the authors themselves! So nothing to learn there and that was part of why I bought this book. In that area I'm disappointed. Otherwise the patterns are easy to follow, every step is explained. So if you want to learn free motion or looking for free motion patterns don't buy this book but if you are looking for great patterns with an excellent explanation, go ahead. You won't be disappointed!

These books on making quilts with jelly rolls give clear directions as to how to sort the fabric, cut it and sew it so that there is minimum waste. They also advise as to which are suitable for beginners and which for the more advanced quilter. The illustrations are clear, both as to how to cut, sew and assemble the quilts and what the completed quilts look like. There are a wide variety of quilts to choose from, with delightful photographs of each one. These are books for all levels of quilters.

No problem came on time and value for money

I borrowed this book from someone in my Adult Ed Class and decided that I wanted to make a quilt from it - so I bought my own book. It is extremely interesting and beautifully illustrated. I am a total beginner so I have found this book useful, the instructions are clear although I have only just constructed some of the squares which I will need for the pattern. I would recommend this book for a beginner or for those more proficient and you don't necessarily have to buy a Jelly roll in order to complete the quilts, you can buy squares or use material you may already have which may hold memories, in order to make an heirloom. This for me, will be a long term project.

Being new to quiltmaking I am really happy with this book. I've made only 2 quilts before I got this book and can't wait to get started on some of the lovely designs. The instructions are clear and "idiot" proof and very suitable for someone with limited experience. I'm sure I'll be buying more books written by these ladies!

One of my more favourite authors on Quilts and Quilting. Such a lovely book - loving the layouts, so much inspiration and so little time to do it all. Practically book marked all of the designs - when I get around to doing them. No problems for me with this gem.

I have all the other jellyroll books written by these two people.Easy to follow with clear instructions. Love working with jellyroll sand layer cakes so quite a few.You can also use a lot of stash instead in a lot of the patterns.

Ich habe einige Zeit mit der Bewertung gewartet, weil ich zuerst den Quilt, den ich mir hier ausgesucht hatte, fertigstellen wollte. Er war ruckzuck fertig und kann sich wirklich sehen lassen. Jetzt juckt es mich in den Fingern, den nächsten in Angriff zu nehmen. Ich bin in jeder Hinsicht von diesem Buch begeistert und würde es jedem Jelly Roll Fan unbedingt empfehlen. Das Buch ist sehr übersichtlich gegliedert, es enthält alle wichtigen Informationen, die für Anfänger so nützlich sind, ohne mit unnötigen Details überfrachtet zu sein, und bietet gleichzeitig Ideen für erfahrenere QuilterInnen zum Ausprobieren. Ich muss sagen, dass die Anleitungen äußerst anschaulich, genau und leicht verständlich erklärt sind und dass man mit einigen Englischkenntnissen diesen Anleitungen sehr gut folgen kann. Eine weitere tolle Sache sind die vielen übersichtlichen Graphiken und schönen Fotos. Da mein erster Quilt genau aus diesem Buch ist, kann ich es guten Gewissens auch AnfängerInnen empfehlen, die vor allem zuerst ein kleineres Projekt ausprobieren wollen. Pam und Nicky Lintott stellen in neun Kapiteln je zwei wunderschöne und einfach zu nähende Quilts vor, die sie aus einer Jelly Roll gefertigt haben (daher der Titel). Normalerweise besteht eine Jelly Roll aus 40 verschiedenen Stoffstreifen von 2,5 Inch Breite, man benötigt für einen Quilt aus diesem Buch also 20 Streifen plus etwas zusätzlichen Stoff für den Hintergrund, den Rand und die Rückseite. Die Mengenangaben sind alle sehr gut berechnet. Die Quilts sind von überschaubarer Größe, d.h. ca. 1,20 m bis 1,50 m groß. Im Kapitel "Getting Started" erfährt man die Basics darüber, was Jelly Rolls sind, was man machen kann, wenn man keine hat, wie man zöllige Maße in metrische Maße umrechnen kann (mein Tipp: am besten ein Lineal mit Inch Einteilung kaufen, dann spart man sich viel Kopfzerbrechen und alles passt), und noch viele weitere Tipps. Nach den einzelnen Projekten erhält man noch die wichtigsten Tipps, wie man den Rand und das Binding annähen kann. Vorsicht: es sind keine Quiltmuster enthalten, diese muss man also nach eigenen Ideen entwerfen oder man lässt quilten. Ein Tipp: wer mit diesem Buch arbeiten will oder gerne rechtwinklige Dreiecke aus Jelly Roll Streifen schneidet - die Anschaffung eines entsprechenden Speziallineals wie im Buch beschrieben lohnt sich wirklich! Ich habe dieses Buch als Kindle-Version gekauft und habe es auf meinem Android Tablet installiert. Die Darstellung der Fotos (auch die Farben) und die Lesbarkeit sind sehr gut und da es hier keine Schablonen zum Ausdrucken gibt, bin ich absolut damit zufrieden. しっかりした作りの良い本でした。 あまり凝ったものはないですがたくさんの可愛い作品が掲載され ページ数もたっぷりあって見ていて面白いです。 Jelly Rollの使い方の参考としてはありきたりかな・・な感じです。 現在のお値段（2900円ほど）に比べかなりお安かったのですが なぜこんなに変動があるのか気になります。。
