QuietCool AFG SMT-3.0 Smart Attic Gable Fan

Awesome Fan! Which I had this fan when I first moved in 12 years ago. Living in south Texas, my attic temp will reach 140 degrees + in the summer time. The central A/C would struggle to keep the house cool in 100+ degree days and would run constantly during the day on my older home. You could put your hand on the ceiling and fell the heat radiating down into the living areas make the A/C work overtime. I have a vent at each end of my roof gable and I decided to purchase this smart attic fan and I am so glad I did. I had to build a box around the north vent because of a 2x4 running down in the center of the vent. Built the box for the fan to set in to direct the air out of the attic and draining the air from the south. Sealed everything with silicone caulking around the gable. Used heating waterproof 3M tap around all cracks and around the fan itself. Fan was plug and play. Definitely set it up on the app BEFORE you mount it in your attic. Now the fan has been running a month now with no issues. My A/C will actually shut off during the heat of the day and I don’t feel the radiant heat from the ceiling. Attic temp is about 128 degrees on a hot 104 degree day. This is a big improvement. I put a wireless thermometer in my attic in the center of my 2500 square-foot home to get a temperature reading and compared to the fan at the north end of my home. Fan is super quiet, it is mounted above my bedroom and I don’t hear it at all. Like the three speeds you can set at what temperature you want to come on with the app. I set mine to come on low at 85 degrees, Medium at 95 degrees, and high at 105 degrees. I tried setting it 5 degrees higher on each and it actually made the fan run longer. Will update as the summer goes on.

Works great

This is a remove and replace of an older & smaller attic fan. Quietcool was easy to install, great value for the money, larger size which will move more hot air out of the attic and outside where it belongs. The high-speed setting will move a considerable volume of air, and I am pleased with the warranty; it proves that the manufacturer is quality motivated. It is too bad this unit will be up in an attic space where it cannot be seen as it has an attractive appearance. This is a Smart unit and has an app to control various user preferences for the fan lending to its versatility compared to other attic fans and especially the fan I replaced.I am pleased with my purchase of this fan as it checks all of my boxes for energy savings, return on investment as it will reduce my AC costs, the attic will not be a sauna during the hot/humid NC summers, and it will improve the air quality in the attic with circulating air.

I'm very pleased with this fan. It is definitely the expensive model for the category but I already think the value is there. The fan moves a lot of air. While it didn't state the "square footage" on product listing, on the box it says 4000 sq. ft. For me, it's in the attic of a 1930s vintage 1900 sq. ft. house, so it should be able to turn the air over rapidly and without effort - the 3-speed design of this one is especially appealing to me. We live in the deep south on the humid Gulf Coast. The best investment I've made in keeping the house comfortable in the summer was a light-colored metal roof. Even still, the attic isn't a place to be during July or August, so this will keep air moving.Installation was surprisingly simple. It helps that my vents were proper 16" with double 2x4 frames, which matched the fan design perfectly. The little black borders zipped right in, too. The control panel came properly pre-wired with a nice gauge, 20' 3-prong extension cord and I already had an outlet in the attic -- like it was meant to be. The test cycle went perfectly; bluetooth connection was seamless; from underneath the fan in the living room, I could still easily communicate with it. I've set the summer mode and should be ready to roll once the next warm front comes in.With it all said and done, I'm glad to have sprung for this model; hoping I never have to think about it for the next 2 decades....

These attic fans are the best. I bought 2 for my house and they are making a big difference. Super quiet on low and medium. You don't even know they are running. On high they make a little noise but you can only hear it if you are in the room below the fan and it is not a deal breaker. I live in Arizona and in the summer it gets HOT. I can check the attic temps on the app on my phone. Attic is staying much cooler. On a 105 degree day the attic is staying around 121 degrees. A man died in Dewey a short while ago after working in an 150 degree attic. These are made in Temecula, CA. It was an easy install. I wish I had them installed years ago.
