TCP Global Air Undercoating Spray Gun with Suction Feed Cup

I had some Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating that was about 2 years old and sprayed it. I ran out of it, and purchased a new can of it, and noticed that the product has changed, for the better. The new stuff is not as clumpy and did not smell as bad as the old stuff, and it sprayed much smoother as well. This sprayer handled the new stuff really well, but was not as good with the old version of it. I mention this because a couple of reviewers did not like this gun with this coating, but those reviews are older, and the product seems to have changed. It may seem to come out a little clumpy when you first spray it, but it does smooth out a lot when it dries, and it leaves a nice textured finish. I used 90 - 100 psi, out of a DeWalt portable compressor, and it handled it with ease. I would recommend using a disposable liner (I got a package of 10 from Harbor Freight), as it made clean up a breeze. I am glad that I tried this gun as the bed coating is pretty thick, and it handled it well. It does spray it out pretty fast, and it will empty the canister in just a few minutes. I peeled off a dried section of coating, and it was not very thick after it dried. I used about a half of a gallon of primer to coat the trailer, but it took me 3 gallons of Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner. When cleaning the gun with this product, use Acetone, as paint thinner/mineral spirits does not dissolve this stuff. A quick spray of acetone cleaned it internally, and a quick wipe down of the outside, and it was good.

I was impressed as to how well this worked on all accounts. Allows one to buy a gallon instead of cans and makes application. easier and faster than the cans with better coverage. I really didn't expect it to work so well, but it covered very nicely. I pre-warmed my fluid film on the suggestion of some other posts, and dialed in the air pressure to about 75psi and it just worked. Easy peasy lemon squeeze. I could shoot it into holes in the frame, and since this stuff does creep quite a bit I'm sure it did pretty well in there. By angling the pickup tube backwards I could spray directly up. My compressor is a 2 gal and 2.1 cfm with a max of 135 PSI and it did fine. And while on longer sprays I could dip below 75 psi, practically that was not an issue as it applies fast enough that there is rarely a time when you won't stop the trigger in that time. Now this is not for detailed work, there are other sprayers for that. But if you want it done easy and don't fancy being under the car for a long period of time, this is the way to go.

Don’t buy this if you want to spray Lizard Skin. Gun itself seems to be of reasonable quality for the price but it will not spray Lizard Skin no matter what pressure it is set at. I read on some forums that people are reducing the LS with water but that’s a big no per the LS website. I actually had good results using a Herculiner sponge roller, as you can see in the second picture. But I’m going to just buy the Lizard Skin application gun.

i used it to apply undercoating to my truck. it worked fine, but its easy to overapply; I mostly figured it out after a few minutes. there is no separate adjustment for the amount of undercoating applied. it's also been a little tricky to get the cover seated on the pot, but once its tight it stays on. i use the thick fluid film that comes in a paint pail and it feeds fine. i tried to attach a piece of tubing to the end to apply undercoating inside the box frame, but it didn't work, the undercoating just got caught up in the tube and didn't spray out the end. it's a basic sprayer, but it works plenty well enough for my basic needs. If i was using it more than once a year though, i'd probably look for an adjustable sprayer that came with hose attachments.

Used this for spraying harbor freight bed liner (Iron Armor) on some plywood cabinets. Dilute the bed liner 1:1 with acetone for a better flow and it will also cover much more area. The thinner formula spreads easier and does not run as bad. Mix very well. Mix will take 39seconds and will thicken the more you stir. If you over dilute with acetone just keep stirring and it will thicken up. Play with air pressure between 60-80psi. Also watch your distance from object so to does not run. Multiple coats are better. Start thin and wait a minute or two between coats. It dries really fast. This gun has worked flawlessly on three or four projects over past month and I’m sure it will continue to work for years. Amazing for the price.

I bought this to apply fluid film to my cars. I got this one because of other reviews and the fact that it comes with a canister. Why they sell a sprayer without a canister is puzzling to me. This sprayed the fluid film very well around 80 psi. My little compressor coil barely keep up. When the pressure was at 80 psi the spray was excellent. When the pressure was too low, it would splatter. My prep of the fluid film was I set the can in the Sun on a 75 degree day for about an hour, Mixed the can very thoroughly. Put it in the canister and spray away. Overall it worked well, I would recommend it for spraying fluid film.

So this is actually cool and works. I was, more than anything, trying to experiment with a vehicle undercoating. I wanted something relatively inexpensive (yet with 4+ reviews), hence this product. I set up the compressor per the instructions (relatively low=~70 psi). In lieu of actual fluid film or other undercoating products, I used Bar oil (as in chain saw bar lube). The gun had no issues shooting the thick oil. I, obviously, cannot speak to the use of this product with an actual undercoating product. Shooting the bar oil resulted in the desired results. I did not dilute the oil, just dumped it in the bowl and sprayed. The consistency (thicker material if you're not familiar) of the oil did deploy in a sort of "snotty" thicker manner but was atomized enough it did cover. For a medium sized SUV I used roughly two quarts of bar oil (guessing since I poured it from a gallon jug).

Works fine initially then stops .Remove sprayer end from can and prim then replace and it works again .This is annoying but I am trying to work out bugs or if not will have to return .when working does a good job .
