I like these for the grip & they don't rust. I amusing them with metal seals. I plan to try them with the plastic seals too.

Wonderful alternative to the metal ring! I got these to use with our mason bottle nipples and jars and they worked great; they didn't leak and fit well. The only problem we ran into was not finding a bottle nipple cover that fit this ring.

I have tried other plastic one-piece jar lids and they only achieved leak-proofing with some success on perfect, new Ball mason jars. These Tough Bands on the other hand are keeping all my older mason jars, including old blue ones, leak-proof with great success!

Nowhere on the packaging does the manufacturer specifically claim that these plastic rings are a substitute for metal bands when processing home-canned foods. As an experienced home-canning person, I recommend you stick with metal bands for putting by your produce, as there is no evidence that these plastic rings would not fail during water-bath or pressure-canning. That said, I bought these rings to use with the "Ball" Brand Sip & Straw Lids (for small-mouth jars). The plastic rings fit fine over the straw-holder insert. Because the straw-holder is ventilated and there is a gap around the straw when it's in its hole, whether or not the ring is leak-proof is a moot point. They're a little on the pricey side, but because the straw lids don't come with rings, they were worth it, to me. They sell solid plastic lids for use when storing an opened jar of home-canned food, and I prefer to use those instead of a ring and the metal canning lid. But if giving a jar of home-canned food as a gift, and you don't have a solid lid to include, the plastic ring makes a better presentation than a rust-prone tin ring. These plastic rings look sturdy, and would probably give years of satisfactory use when sprouting seeds for salads. As a non-food use, a crafter could use these rings to secure a handmade round pincushion to the top of a button jar. Incidentally, I use half-liter jars made in Italy, and like the American standard small-mouth canning rings and lids, these plastic rings also fit.

Makes gripping so much easier!

Theses work great for after the item has been "canned. Don't work for processing but after that the metal bands do become rusty sometimes. These plastic ones are great replacements and the multi sided grips make for easier opening and closing!

These are solid and easy to use. They do fit but I wish they felt more secure when they went on. They always leave me feeling like I don't have them on right. But I've used them for about three months now and about ten batches of pickled cauliflower and cucumbers and sauerkraut and they work great. I use them on top of the silicone easy fermenting lids which are also on top of the fermentation weights cups which keep the food submerged. They work together great. I can put a batch of fermented vegetables together so fast now. Cutting the veggies up is what takes the longest. It is so easy now and I don't have to fuss over the veggies. Another great thing is I never have spill over when the veggies start to ferment. It couldn't be easier.

These are great. Bought them for my kids drinking jars. No more rust spots on the lids. A bit expensive but they do the trick

Great sturdy lid sides that fit regular mason jars. I use with 'pickle pipes' for salt pickling or a round piece of plastic embroidery mesh for sprouting beans/seeds (as metal mesh lids always seem to rust).
