It's not perfect, but it is definitely good enough for 5 ...
It's not perfect, but it is definitely good enough for 5 stars. I use it hill walking and it gives me easy, fast, one-handed access to my camera. I have it paired with a Peak Designs Cuff (another very good piece of kit), and I can attach the cuff to my wrist, click the release button on the Capture, and take the camera out quickly and entirely one-handed. On my first outing using the Capture I did run into a problem. The base plate that's attached to the camera became loose. I don't like over-tightening screws and, as a result, I hadn't applied enough pressure when fastening it. The loosening became obvious well before the camera would have actually fallen off. The immediate symptoms were a difficulty attaching and removing the camera from the Capture. The screw needs a (provided) hex key to tighten. I hadn't brought one with me but managed to tighten the screw and then twist the base plate to tighten it further. It stayed tightly fastened for several hours after that; more than long enough to complete my walk. I've now properly tightened the screw holding the base plate in place. Except for the first loosening of the baseplate, I've always felt completely confident in the ability of the Capture to hold my camera securely in place. The release button can be easily twisted to lock the camera into the Capture so that the button needs twisting and then pressing to release. I've never seen it unlock without me doing it. The gap between the bolts that attach the capture to a rucksack isn't massive. It fastens to all the rucksacks I use it with, but with one of them the shoulder strap needs squeezing for the bolts to fit around. I'd check that the strap you want to fasten it to will fit between the bolts. In use it's brilliant. I slip my hand through the cuff, grab the grip of the camera, then press the Capture release with my thumb and I'm good to go. Returning the camera to the Capture there's a very reassuring clunk and I know it's locked in place. It really is that easy. I am using a relatively small Sony mirrorless camera, and couldn't be sure that the single handed operation would be as straightforward with a chunky DSLR, but for me it's great. Like I said at the start, not quite perfect but close enough for the full 5 stars.

Great for providing quick access
I use my Peak Design - Capture clip to hold my camera when I go for hikes. I dislike camera straps around the neck and continually getting the camera out of a backpack is a pain. I have tried the clip on both the shoulder strap and belt and think that the belt is the most comfortable. (I have walked distances of 15 miles and more and not had an issue). I use it to hold a Canon EOS R and 24-240mm lens. The camera just hangs there, does not interfere with walking and is instantly available when I want to take a photo. Also means I have both hands free while hiking. I have replaced the ball head on my tripod, and the quick release my monopod, for ones that that accept the Arca plate. This means the plate does not need to be removed to put the camera on a tripod. I have tried the clip with multiple straps and have not had an issue of getting it to fit. Only downside is the cost, but it works well and seems to be well made.

Worth it
Worth the purchase. I bought this despite their higher price tag and I am grateful as I have no complaint.Easy set up. feels and looks premium. And is compatible with plenty of straps as it even has extra bolts for thicker straps.

Everyone with a camera should have one
I’ve had the Capture Clip v3 for a while and it's been faultless. The biggest surprise is how confidently it carries a heavy setup. My Canon R5C with the Canon 100-400 L lens is about 2.5 kg and the clip has handled hikes and scrambles without any drama. It holds fine even without the lock engaged. For my own peace of mind I flick the lock on when I'm moving fast or jumping so I'm not tempting fate. Security is another win. In busy cities and when travelling, having the camera clipped to my strap feels far safer than carrying it in my hand. Even unlocked, someone would have to understand the release to get it off you, which is unlikely and not exactly subtle. With the lock on, pickpocketing is basically a non-starter. Comfort depends on your loadout. My kits aren't the lightest and after a full day I notice the extra weight on the shoulder where the camera sits. I'm considering a second clip so I can alternate sides on long days. Do check strap compatibility. The clamp needs a strap within a certain width and thickness. It fits most of my bags, but not all. My Lowe Alpine 65+15L pack has straps that are too thick, and my Montane Trailblazer packs have very wide straps with pockets that get in the way. It usually sits on my Gomatic Mckinnon 35L backpack and that's a perfect combo... yes that bag has side access, but when a shot presents itself (especially wildlife), this is so much faster! I have only used the clip on backpack straps, not on a belt, so I can't comment on waist carry. Overall, this has given me true hands-free shooting with real peace of mind. It's robust, quick to use, and it has never let me down.

A Clever Way To Carry A Camera, With Some Definite Limitations
As a method for securing a camera to your belt or a bag strap, and as alternative to a shoulder strap, the Capture camera clip is not a bad solution. Well made out of aluminium, its easy to fit and simple to use, with the connection between base plate and clip feeling secure when attached, whilst also being quick and smooth to release. There are however, a number of limitations with the Capture Clip, which anyone thinking of buying one should bear in mind. They are: 1. It works better as a belt clip with small mirrorless cameras than full-sized DSLRs. I own both a Canon 6D Mark II and a Canon M5 mirrorless camera. The Capture Clip works great with the M5, when attached to a belt. The weight of the camera, with a small-ish lens attached, does not pull the Clip down too hard and make it uncomfortable to wear and its not too bulky By contrast both the size and weight of the 6D MkII make attaching it to a belt, even a heavy duty leather one, impractical. The Capture Clip works better with DSLRs when attached to the shoulder strap of a rucksack, as the position is better, but again the weight can be an issue. As a way to temporarily store your DSLR and free up both hands for other tasks it has its use, but I wouldn't want to carry a full size camera over any distance using the Capture Clip. 2. It only works with Peak Design base plates. If, like me you use an L-Bracket on your DSLR, then the Capture Clip will not be a practical option, as it is only compatible with Peak Design's own base plate. These plates are Arca-Swiss compatible, so can be used in conjunction with many tripod heads, but with no reverse compatibility using the Capture Clip does reduce your choice of connection. I'd also add that whilst the Peak Design base plates are well designed, they rely on the use of an allen key to attach and detach them, which makes swapping them from a different attachment fiddlier than it needs to be. This might not seem much of a problem if they're the only base plate you're ever going to use, but it can still be a pain. On my small M5 for example, fitting any base plate blocks access to the battery and memory card compartment. Its already enough of a pain having to remove a plate to swap out the battery or card, without having to hunt down a tool every time too. 3. The Clip is not fool-proof. Whilst it is solidly built and generally works well, the Capture Clip is not foolproof. The two nuts that secure the clip in place will, when its used, slowly loosen over time. There is nothing that can be done to avoid this. The pressure on the screws from the combination of the weight of the camera and its movement will inevitably loosen them. The heavier the camera the quicker it happens. The design of the Clip means that its very hard for it to ever fully come off unintentionally, but you will find yourself having to regularly check and retighten the securing screws if you use it over a long period of time. So overall a neat bit of kit to have available, especially if you're using smaller, lighter Mirrorless cameras, but there are some definite flaws and its better for certain specific applications than others.

Amazing convenience and smart design
I think this is must for anybody who is passionate about photography or videography and is on the move. Brilliant product and worth the price, the design is smart. The only little niggle is that the plate may not fit all tripods, i have one tripod with a button lock mechanism and the plate fall short on it and definitely i don’t want screw in and off all the time using the tripod.

Essential
Outstanding piece of kit. Makes travel photography a doddle. Used travelling through Morocco and Italy. Used mostly with Fujifilm 50-140mm which is a large lens. It felt comfortable even with that lens mounted (worn on backpack strap above left pectoral). I only use it with a backpack but would consider mounting on belt too. Expensive but reliable and useful. Definitely recommend.

Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert
So. Unsagbar. Teuer.

Excellent product in every way
I just recently got into the PeakDesign ecosystem, with several purchases starting with their carbon fibre travel tripod. This product continues the excellence of the rest of the PD line up. I have it attached to the front strap of my PD 10l sling bag, where it is easily accessed and quick to mount and dismount. The provided base plate attaches to just about any strap, including most backpack straps. It also functions as a tripod mounting plate for Arca-Swiss compatible tripods. None of the PD products are cheap but they are very well made, highly functional and the design elements are top notch. Every product within the PD ecosystem just works together seamlessly! Highly recommend.

Qualità e sicurezza ai massimi livelli
Acquisto pienamente soddisfacente.
