Not really necessary
Keeping all my vehicles in pristine condition, I would only use exceptionally good products. My current two vehicles are black, and have found the Meguiars NXT wax to deliver outstanding performance. Heads turn not only at the vehicle type, but the unbelievably slick wet finish. The ulimate polish, I feel is unneccessary, and although I do like the Meguiars ultimate wax, there is always a coat of NXT applied first. I have tried many other products, but Meguiars is still the best to date.

Product Review: Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish (Gloss Enhancer) I used Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish to improve the look of my car’s paint and headlights, and overall it does a solid job. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t take much effort to work into the surface. After buffing it off, I noticed a nice deeper shine and a smoother, more reflective finish. It works best as a finishing step before waxing, not as a heavy correction product. It won’t remove deep scratches, but it does a great job at bringing out gloss and improving the overall look of the paint. For headlights, it can help make them look clearer and more polished, but for heavy yellowing you’ll still need a proper compound first. Overall, it’s a reliable product for adding that clean, glossy finish if you’re detailing your car properly.
