Back to The Roots Organic All-Purpose Plant Food (5 lb. Value Size), Premium Blend, Safe & Sustainable Vegan Formulation Made with Kelp and Alfaalfa Meal, Mycorrhize, and Rock Phosphate Minerals

I'm a "veganic" gardener who chooses to not use any soil amendments that contain animal by-products or slaughterhouse by-products. No manure from factory farms; no bone or blood meal, etc., so Back to the Roots Organic All-Purpose Plant Food, with alfalfa meal, rock phosphate, soybean meal, dolomitic limestone, potassium, magnesium sulfate, sulfate of potash, and kelp meal fits the bill vegan-wise, but it's not clear whether the Alfalfa or Soybean meals are certified organic (I wish they were, but fear they are not). I buy this because it's a good amount of product for the price in the present market, and because it's a fast, easy, "all in one" solution to having to feed or side-dress our backyard crops, but I don't rely on it as our only fertilizer, as I feel more comfortable when I know with certainty that the seed meals ARE certified organic, non-gmo, grown on farms that don't use herbicides, pesticides, or genetically modified varieties. I mix the bulk of our soil amendments using certified organic seed meals (like organic alfalfa pellets from the feed store or from online vendors), kelp, locally available soil amendments (leaves, forest duff, compost we make here, etc.), some minerals as needed - like sulfur to adjust our alkaline soils for the more pH sensitive crops, etc. I find the Back to the Roots Organic All-Purpose Plant Food (5 lb. Value Size) a decent value, and, to be honest, I wish it came in an even larger, more economical size. I do wish, however, that all of the inputs were Organic, as I worry some about the seed meals in it. It's my favorite "fast food" solution to vegan fertilizer on a budget. It's never burned or otherwise mistreated any of our crops, and I plan to continue to use it as part of our soil amendment and side-dressing plan in our mostly "organic" vegan garden. I use it on everything from beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and corn to peppers, roses, snapdragons, stocks, squash, tomatoes, and zinnias. I'm not entirely comfortable with the non-recycle-able, non-biodegradeable packaging, however, and I wish the company could pursue more environmentally sustainable packaging solutions (like the cardboard boxes with paper bagged products that some other brands - like plantonix - have adopted for their neem seed meals, etc.).

Excellent quality and it seems to be time release which I like And 100 percent organic I use it with all my outside plants in conjunction with the liquid fertilizer I use it half Strength every couple weeks

This is a good all purpose plant food. But little did I know it's much healthier just to use my native soil that my chickens have worked up and added their own little gifts to enhance it. You really can't do better than that.

My vegetables and flowers seem to like this fertilizer. I recommend it.

Solid product! Make sure to mix this up. It will mold if you leave it on the surface.

I bought it on a sale. Seemed to give my plant starts a nice boost this spring. Doesn't have a heavy smell like some organic fertilizers have.

I get this instead of mycorrhiza alone. It doesn't stink like other organic fertilizers that have animal byproducts.
