Superb
Great system and sound. Easy to set up.

A great piece of AV kit unbeatable at less than ยฃ700.
After a shaky start involving a failing HDMI port, I'm reasonably happy with this unit. It boasts plenty of features and, to my ear, is tonally pleasing with it's delivery of both movies and music, and is a doddle to set up. If you like to fiddle a bit with base and treble (a poo poo for purists but not for me), that's easy too. I also find it's minimalist styling pleasing on the eye but, face it, most are these days for the simple reason lots of folks make purchases as much based on looks as performance. It's also reassuringly heavy. Not overly so but enough to make you think you've spent a reasonable amount of hard earned on it but nowhere near say the Pioneer SC LX range. I've seen criticism of the bluetooth streaming quality but, personally, I've found it perfectly acceptable once you get over the audio snobbery thing and, let's be honest, is anyone paying for Tidal and the lieke ever going to be happy with bluetooth? I think not.. Picture quality is good too, even with pass thru which can sometimes be a mute point with AV amps. I use an Amazon Echo cube for my viewing (although not for music) and find the results more than acceptable. A major selling point with this unit is you "gets a lot of bang for your buck" (or, in my case, pound). Especially now it's available for considerably less than 700 quid, this is a really good player. that punches above it's weight The What Hi Fi review is perhaps a bit too much of a sickly love affair and, remember reviews are as much subjective as they are objective, but I don't think for one moment this Sony will disappoint the average mid price buyer. You'd have to spend a lot more to get better elsewhere.

My sony ta-an1000 amazing amplifier 7.2
I've been a onkyo user of years but when I found the sony ta-an1000 I was very impressed with the whole thing, it is compatible with all my devices and easy to set-up with so many functions and sound features which is easily understood and controlled by a perfect remote control, with a nice feeling volume control button and it looks good, I can't believe how lucky I was to get it at such a great price

โImpressive on Paper, Let Down in Practiceโ
Sony TAโAN1000 โ RealโWorld Ownership Review After 63 Days. Iโd been happily using a Sony STRโDH790 for around three and a half years. It did everything I needed at the time, but after upgrading my speakers I felt Iโd outgrown it. Naturally, I looked at Sony again because the 790 had been rockโsolid. The TAโAN1000 had a few reported reliability issues early on, but from what I could see those were mostly from launch and supposedly fixed with firmware updates. I waited for a price drop โ RRP is ยฃ999 โ and picked it up for ยฃ699, then cancelled my Amazon order and bought it elsewhere for the same price but with a 6โyear warranty for peace of mind. Setup & Features Setup was straightforward. I had to fit banana plugs because the 790 used leaf connectors, but once wired, calibration was easy. The 360 Spatial Sound Mapping felt like a genuine step forward, especially for people without a dedicated cinema room.I did notice a loud clunk when powering on or waking from standby. It didnโt bother me โ the 790 did something similar โ and I assumed it was just the relays engaging on a more powerful unit. There was an improvement in sound over the 790, but it was subtle, not the big leap I expected. HDMI, eARC & CECThis is where things went downhill. The eARC and CEC behaviour was awful. Passโthrough was unreliable, and if I put the amp into standby to use the TV speakers, it would just switch itself back on again. After a while I gave up and disabled CEC entirely. On the plus side, it has plenty of HDMI inputs and is technically futureโproofed for 8K. The remote is quite nice and compact however it needs to be pointed directly at the receiver to work. Which isn't really acceptable by todays standards. The Failure Then, 63 days into ownership, the big one hit: Total HDMI output failure. No signal from any output. I did all the usual diagnostics and knew immediately the HDMI board had blown. The retailer ran through the same checks, agreed it needed repair, and arranged collection. Iโd hoped theyโd replace it due to how new it was, but instead it went off for repair.Four weeks later, they told me a part had been swapped but it failed again in testing. At that point I exercised my consumer rights and rejected the unit. It had already exceeded a reasonable repair timeframe for something so new. The retailer initially ignored this and kept quoting internal policies, insisting on further repairs. After speaking with Sony directly, they finally backed down and offered a replacement or refund.I chose a refund โ Iโd completely lost confidence in the product. After reading more owner reviews, itโs clear the HDMI reliability issue is not rare. What I Bought Instead: Iโve now purchased a Denon X2850H, and it already feels like a true upgrade over the 790 โ more stable, better behaved, and more capable. Verdict I cannot recommend the Sony TAโAN1000 based on my experience. If you do buy one, do so with caution and make sure you have a long warranty. The feature set is good, but the reliability simply isnโt there.

Lots to like - A Few Niggle/Bugs
Overall I like this - setup was easy using a laser measure and the supplied calibration microphone. Sound is very good (considering the cost) - I'm using it in a 5.1 set-up. The zones feature I love, I can feed an HDMI to another room, and watch a different HDMI inpu there. I can also feed the second output to my HDMI encoder, and use the Zone 3 phono outputs to supply the required stereo audio to it. The Spatial 360 audio setting is very nice,it really fills the room up. The niggles are: 1. The IR receiver is very poor - you really have to point the remote right at it (my old Denon was much more responsive) 2. The web control interface doesn't work for me - you can see it but selecting any option (including the remote control feature) fails, with the message "unable to change settings". 3. When using the Zone 2 output, the HDMI control doesn't work, so the TV remote can't then change volume. This is especially annoying as the amplifier IR receiver is so poor. I've orderd an IR repeater which I hope will improve the IR performance. I'm pleased with this in general, but there are a few things not quite right (and I am on the latest firmware).

A good, midrange receiver
I had a pioneer AV receiver previously, that was 15 years old and showing signs of age. I had a Sony many years ago and it served me very well, so thought id try Sony again. The Sony TA-AN1000. I've only had a this amplifier a few days. But noticed vast improvements and upgrades. The sound is so much better. The set up was easy once I updated the amp and connected the WIFI. I wanted to future proof in purchasing this amp. I am only using 5.1 at the moment. But im looking to advance to 7.1 soon. It has many audio settings. Which is a refreshing change. Its early days, but I highly recommend this amp to anyone who appreciates good sound and knows how to set up a system. Highly recommended.

Great product.
Awesome amplifier for use with my 4k bluray player and 4k firestick. Word of warning, make sure you plug the mic all the way in when performing the setup and calibration. I had not plugged it in properly at the start and the calibration kept failing. Sounds amazing once setup.
