Hi, you can apply it to flat painted/primed plastered walls.

Can this be used on worktops

It is a very good product and very versatile., and people use it in a variety of ways, but I would not use it on kitchen worktops.

What colour is the adhesive side?

I didn’t actually use this as mine arrived bent due to insufficient sturdy packaging but I would think it’s the same grey as the front but with the adhesive which will give a slightly milky appearance. Vinyl warehouse is much better.

Can it be used in lampshades?

It is not something I would use on lampshades.
