HIFI WALKER H2 MP3 Player – High Res Audio DAP with Bluetooth5.2, Lossless Music Player, DSD DAC Support, Portable FLAC Player with Line Out, 64GB Memory Card, Expandable to 512GB

I use it in conjunction with a set of Sennheiser HD25 headphones for portable/on-the-go/walking/outside use. The sound quality is truly excellent; suffice to say that it can generally be characterised as neutral, balanced, transparent: i.e. accurate. It fulfils all I would wish for sound quality wise from a portable setup. (My "reference" comparison setup is against a Topping A90 headphone amplifier/D90 DAC + Sennheiser HD800S). It compares very favourably, providing a good chunk of the performance for something in a portable package. In short, the sound is everything you could want for/hope for from a portable and reasonably priced DAP, and could be legitimately described as "audiophile". Because it works as a mass storage device, or you can simply load files directly onto the microSD card, this device works great out of the box with Linux; no fancy drivers required. (I should note I installed Rockbox on the device immediately after getting it (hosted install/dual boot), though the original firmware seems perfectly serviceable/decent. Rockbox enables me to use my 512GB microSD card, whereas the stock firmware is limited to 256GB. Rockbox firmware does seem to have a bug with generating a database, at least with my FLAC collection, however, since I just use the file browser (because all my FLACs are perfectly organised in a <artist>/<album> directory structure), this is of no concern to me)). I haven't tested the Bluetooth or Line Out performance, mainly because I doubt I will ever use this functionality. Listening using only lossless FLAC files (mostly 16bit/44khz), I'm trending toward 10-15 hours battery life. Summary: 1. Audiophile sound quality. 2. High quality output stage with excellent volume adjustability/range. 3. Decent, clear screen. Lock button functionality to stop unwanted button presses. 4. No audio glitches, breaks, or defects (note that I've done nearly all of my listening using Rockbox rather than OF) in use on the move. 5. Fair/reasonable price. 6. Solid build with lovely feel - perfect size and weight for carrying around. 7. Easy loading of music onto memory card/mass storage device, no garbage proprietary software required. 8. Decent, if not exceptional, battery life. Rockbox works very well on it (see caveats above), meaning you could potentially use a gigantic memory card with it if so desired, if you're a geek/power-user. (I'm using a 512GB card.) 9. Included fabric drawstring bag to protect it from scratches is a nice touch. Only costs them a few pennies and means you've got something to protect it right away. Meanwhile there is a metal loop you could affix a lanyard too as well, useful if you're the type of person prone to dropping things!

this is probably one of the best things ive ever bought. the sound is crisp and loud, the bass is thumping and the highs excellent. the screen is clear, i bought some £10 betron earphones and it offers a crisp rich sound, best mp3 player ive ever had, excellent value for money, i had an issue with loading songs onto the player at first but all i needed to do was open the players window on my pc and actually create a Music folder so i can transfer all my songs onto that folder and it worked. the menu is pretty easy to understand - i cant fault it!, its quite heavy as its made of metal with a glass back, plenty of features on the menu to play around with, i put it on max volume and high gain and customised the equilizer to get the best sound out of it

This audio player is well presented, well made and has good sound, although operating it takes some learning. The instructions are useful and the feature of a separate card to store music is very convenient, just copy files over from your PC. Sound seems a bit low to start with but can be tweaked, for example going to 'settings' and setting the gain to 'high' is a big improvement, although I haven't got into the equaliser settings yet. It sounds good played through a small headphone valve amp. I bought it to replace my ageing but faithful Sony Walkman player!

I'm trying to cut down on my daily phone usage and as part of that I realised having to cart it around to listen to music through Spotify all day was just encouraging me to then start doomscrolling, so I decided to see if MP3 players were still hanging around and was delighted to stumble across this one. Just to be clear from the off, I'm not an audiophile and I don't really care about music quality so long as the vocals are understandable and the bass is thumping so I'd recommend looking at other reviews if you need that info! I was hesitant about the software as reviews are mixed, and I'm not sure if it's because I had MP3 players growing up (mainly Sony before switching to Apple), but I don't find it that hard to navigate at 36 years old? Category breaks down your music by artist/genre/album etc. whilst the Explorer shows your tracks by how they're physically sorted in the device. Settings relates strictly to music playback (like the equaliser) and includes all options for the music screen (like album art etc.), whilst System Settings is for the device itself (backlight, music scan, etc.). The device is very responsive with no delay when waking it up from sleep or scrolling through screens of songs. If you do experience any issues with Category not picking up the music on your device, go to Settings, hover over Music Scan and press and hold the M button. The device will then scan itself and find everything on the micro SD card :) I understand from reviews that the Bluetooth is an older protocol but I had no issue connecting it to my Sony WF-C500 earbuds, nor a pair of cheap no-brand over-ear headphones I got earlier this year. The connection will start to distort if I go about eight feet or so away from the device but I always have it on me so that's not an issue. If your wireless earbuds are quiet it's likely you need to turn the volume up on the earbuds themselves - I had to do this with mine and now they're super loud. I've also used the aux and, well, it's an aux! You just sort of plug the headphones in and off you go. Battery life seems to be really good, too. I've had the player for three days now, listening around four hours per day, and haven't had to charge it from it's out-of-the-box state yet. The build quality is really nice, solid without being too heavy - I have it on a lanyard around my neck and whilst I definitely feel that it's there, it's not so noticeable that it's distracting or discomforting. The back panel is glass and therefore a fingerprint magnet but it looks so slick I can't be mad about that lol. The buttons all have a really good clicky feel and whilst the scroll wheel takes some getting used to once you do it's fun to use (and a bit nostalgic for the iPod era I grew up in, although it's not capacitive). It's a weird device to look at in photos, but it's laid out in a way that makes everything easy to reach whilst using it. The screen is also much sharper than I was expecting and at 50% backlight is easy to view in both ambient and direct sunshine. It's a tiny bit smaller than I thought it would be, but its size is just about right I think. All in all, if you want an MP3 player that feels like it's going to last you a long time I don't think you'll find one better than this at the ~£100 mark. I'm really pleased with my purchase and I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of it!

I bought this HIFI Walker because everywhere they talked about the great sound quality . and of course the sound is great until you use an equalizer . I don't know who worked on this sound equalizer, but it is hopeless and the sound quality cannot be improved, only worsened. this equalizer is useless, it would be better to use the (Loudnes) option to improve the sound quality . apart from the crappy equalizer which is useless, the whole device is solidly made and easy to use . It is quite small and someone with large hands may have a bit of difficulty in handling it. Is it worth buying? Yes and no, I think it's a bit too expensive, but I don't know if you can buy something better at the same price. I gave it 3 stars out of 5 only because the concealer sucks

For around £100 or so this player has very high quality sound, and fantastic build quality. I have a Sony NW-A105, and imho this sounds a purer higher definition sound. The Sony has terrible battery life (android) and horrible eye burning screen, and the DSP effects mostly sound like an echo chamber. These however have a cheap TN screen but it’s serviceable and clear, the OS is easy to get used to and the physical controls work well with 1 hand. There are a few missing features that you would expect for a higher priced player, but all essentials are there. The equaliser seems best turned off, with a pure Hi-Def sound, when used it seems to filter each frequency band rather than boost. But as the sound is so sharp and clear already I can see why it works this way. Bluetooth could be an issue, as the sound is very low. So if you can’t adjust the sound on say Bluetooth headphones you are stuck if it sounds low. Using a speaker you can turn up the volume on the speaker. However tbh wired will always sound better than wireless, otherwise why would you listen to lossless audio on very lossy, low bit rate/bandwidth Bluetooth. Overall it can’t compete with the expensive audiophile brands, but it’s not supposed to. If you’re looking for a cheap lossless player I think this is unbeatable. Crystal clear, pin sharp sound. Nicely made with a nice metal shell (Sony is cheap & nasty plastic), and the preferable physical buttons. I can think of a lot worse to spend £100 on, especially in todays money crisis. 5*

Returned this item within hours of receipt. Reasons are: 1) BT proved to be intermittent. While most devices I have did indeed connect, at least half didn't actually work. Example would be my Samsung smart TV (2022 model). H2 found this device fine and connected. The TV remote would even play and pause music on H2 playlist. Unfortunately, no sound! Not a dicky bird from the TV speakers. My LG TV on the other hand had sound, but wouldn't display music info.Now, I know BT can be temperamental sometimes, but my old HUDL 2 which this H2 was to replace worked on all my devices, despite its age, until it finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago. 2) One of the reasons I purchased the H2 was the supposed 'high quality, loseless audio, DSD' etc. By many of the reviews this was supported. However, I found the sound to be extremely thin and tinny. As an audiophile of many years I'm not silly enough to expect too much from such a device, but nevertheless. 3) To be fair, I cannot comment on the battery performance since I didn't have the device long enough to evaluate. And as far as the build quality goes, again can't say for sure, but buttons did feel a little flimsy. Overall my advice, for what it's worth, would be to look elsewhere, as I now will. Though of course, your experience and opinion may vary.

Good audio when it worked but would not charge after 18 months use. Would NOT recommend this.
