Girth is the vertical measurement of the torso circumference. To measure girth: make a continuous loop around the torso by placing a tape measure at the top of the shoulder, drape it down the front of the body, go between the legs at the center of the crotch, up the back of the body to the exact same place on the top of the shoulder. a little sparkly but not gaudy like so many gymnastic leotards are
This definitely runs small. My daughter is newly turned 6, 46 inches tall, 46 lbs, with a slightly longer than average torso and the intermediate which says ages 7-9, is just fitting her. I'm scared to wash it. I think I'll hand wash and lay flat to dry. It is VERY cute, a little sparkly but not gaudy like so many gymnastic leotards are. I bought her a pair of black gymnastics shorts from this site also to provide a little extra coverage.
