I am now interested in learning more. This is both an autobiography and poetry book, it is in my opinion a good window into black feminism and I definitely think it should be read.

Because it's a collection of essays, the message can be a bit repetitive at times, as the essays are all on the same subject: racism and sexism in the USA, by the same author; but maybe that's what we need in order to absorb the message. The difficult truth is that the lessons haven't been learned, in all the years since Audre Lorde wrote these essays, full of anger and frustration. Well worth reading.

Recommended reading
It wasn't eye opening for me as I'm a very open and deep thinking person, so I wasn't often caught off guard. However there were some amazing quotes in this book and I enjoyed a few of the poems. I am touched at the life the author led and this was the first book I read on black feminism. I am now interested in learning more. This is both an autobiography and poetry book, it is in my opinion a good window into black feminism and I definitely think it should be read.

The genius of Lorde beautifully presented.
Beautiful book, lovely card cover, uncrowded, appealing presentation, thick paper. A mix of a few poems, including “Sister Outsider” and some famous essays, including “poetry is not a luxury”, “the uses of anger...” & “uses of the erotic...” Even the prose is poetic and the words consist of uncommon wisdom. Buy one for you and one for a friend.

Excellent obsevations, outstanding.
I read this to be inspired by her wisdom and really think about what is real or an illusion or mental slavery.

A powerful and necessary voice.
Took me a little while to get into this collection and can’t honestly say I connected with *all* of it (not being black, or a woman, or a lesbian), but there was no doubting by the end that Audre Lorde voice provides powerful, insightful, painful and necessary testimony.

Wonderful book in a not great condition for a new book
A beautiful book by the incredible Audrey Lord but I ordered a new copy and received what seems to be a used copy with the bind ripped...
