Natural Farms 1lb 100% African Shea Butter from Ghana

Lovely ivory color, no visible impurities. Good medium-solid consistency at room temp, but squeezable, and massages into skin in a minute or so. Left my hands feeling great; and my cuticles, which are currently a mess, less crispy. ;) Packaged in plastic bag inside sealed foil. Distinct scent - not unpleasant - when foil first opened, but that dissipated a lot after it got into the air. (Still in plastic bag.) Good odor, too. Nice and nutty, no rancid taint. Expiration date a year from now. After trying on my hands, can only catch a hint of fragrance from that, which I find pleasant. After massaging a minute or so, I left it while typing this. Felt a little bit buttery, but by now it's sunken in all the way, leaving no residue, just softness. I'm definitely going to keep some of it in original form for use as a butter. I'm a type 2 diabetic, and also have a heart condition, with permanent circulatory damage to one lower leg from a fall. As is, this will be really great caring for the skin on my feet and leg.

Arrived in a nice minimalist package as pictured. Has an good expiration date which is something I wasn't expecting considering this is the first time I've ever order shea butter. Definitely firm but soft and moist enough to easily work with. I plan on making body butter with it one I get the French Lavender Oil I order hopefully tomorrow. I'll give an update on how it workout once I've made my first batch. So far very pleased with the natural scent and color.

I've tried several shea butter brands, and while some early reviews of this brand were negative, my 2025 purchase (which I'm still using and in perfect condition) has been great. I love the texture, nearly undetectable scent, and how it feels on my skin. It's super emollient, meaning it helps skin retain moisture, but I also drink plenty of water daily! FYI shea butter is thick and is used in quality moisturizers, often diluted with cheaper ingredients. If you're willing to let this one ingredient wonder warm up on your skin, it might be the last lip, hand, foot, elbow or wherever balm you ever buy. It's packaged in bulk in a plastic bag inside an airtight foil pouch. While usable directly from the pouch, I find it easier to transfer it to a jar.

Good product. I used it for soap making and very happy with this product.

The product is good, overall. I would improve the packaging a bit, as it came in a small box with plastic wrap. The plastic wrap is messy. You can’t get the product out without touching it and it’s a bit of an icky mess. A container would be more suitable. Product does sufficiently well and good price.

Color: Ivory Aroma: subtle earthy / nutty Texture: Hard, then creamy Packaging: Block and chunks in a tied bag inside a ZipLoc bag which is heat sealed I recently tried the Yellow Unrefined Shea butter African Shea Butter 100% Natural 16oz and loved it so decided to try this. The aroma is similar to but more subtle then the yellow Shea Butter. I suspect (but haven't tried) that if you mix in with fragrance oils it won't be noticeable. The texture is similar to a somewhat hard (e.g. slightly warmed up out of the fridge) stick of butter - hard / firm when you squish in your hand them collapses into creamy. But unlike butter no apparent transition to "oily" (this is also different than the Yellow Shea). It simply becomes creamy. You can feel those fatty acids forming a "glove" only molecules thick protecting your skin, sealing in moisture. Even. After. Repeated. Hand. Washings. If you spoon / smash this into a small container (so you don't have to constantly go into the bag) it'll end up creamy. I'm a noob to pure Shea Butter and at the same time from what I can tell this is the Real Deal. Really glad I purchased this.

I have been ordering this particular shea butter for about 6 months now. All members of our household use it, including our 9 year old. My acne has practically disappeared since using shea butter daily. I won't even use regular lotion anymore. This stuff is amazing! The one pound unit comes in a plastic bag. I put it in a jar and it keeps wonderfully. It's smell is slightly earthy, but very subtle and fades shortly after application. The price is great, especially considering its raw and organic. Most of the stuff you see locally is very refined, but not this brand.

PRODUCT NOTES The image listed shows the shea butter in chunks, but it arrived in a round tub/plastic container. The shea butter in the tub was a smooth and solid and filled the container. It seems to be a relatively quality from what I can tell so far by visual appearance and smell. USAGE I whipped this with coconut oil, olive oil, rosehips oil, argan oil, vitamin E, and jojoba oil to make a very moisture rich lotion. The majority of the ingredients I used in this mixture were the shea butter and coconut oil. I placed all the ingredients in a blender (Nutribullet) and blended until smooth and homogeneous (about 2 minutes). I have used it on my face and body and have not had any issues so far. That is to say, it is a very gentle moisturizer and has not irritated my skin at all. I was using Retin-A when I did this (anyone who has used the topical ointment can tell you it makes your skin extremely sensitive, dry, and exposed) and I did not have any adverse reactions whatsoever.
