we have a redundant fireplace. Could the vent be connected to the chimney?

I guess it is possible but, the exhaust gets hot and is moist and therefore condensation might be an issue if used regularly. I am not at all sure if this would be a recommended solution as it could lead to damp issues in the chimney.

I have heard not to use an extension cable but only plug into the mains. is this true? if so, it won't reach my mains!

I've got mine on an extension lead, and as I am not exceeding the circuit load, no problems. Hope this helps.
