Not a bad kit at all like some would believe!
So this kit has gotten a lot of stick on the reviews here. I get it, it can be a bit of a pain to put together but the best tool you need to start with is patience. Don't go hacking off the plastic pegs at first especially the ones around the saucer section you'll more than likely end up with a chunk out of the edge, reduce it gradually. It says on the box it's a snap fit kit. It is but I'd recommend using some glue anyway. You do get slight gaps it's a little unavoidable as with most kits you can get a model filler for this, being new and niave I used humbrol model filler it's too "chunky" for fine gaps so in future I'm going to use Vajalo plastic putty. Easy to apply with a fine applicator and files smooth with a soft ememery board, should leave the gaps more filled. The decals, wow, so many, very fiddly please research a decal fixative to make life easier and to get adhesion, don't beat yourself up if muck them up a bit. Some of them don't fit flush especially on the top of the saucer section. In all a pleasure to build despite a few niggles and kinks. Looks great when done and if you apply a bit of time and investment. There are some great build videos on you tube which will help greatly. Take your time and have fun !!

Seriously Cool
Builds into a great model. Eyecatching and impressive. Very easy to build but challenging to paint well. Metal landing gear included which is a nice touch.

Good kit.
Bought as a gift. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not the best fitting. The instructions aren't great either. But overall it's a nice model. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone with a bit of experience.

Expect it to be a challenging build if, like me, you intend to light it.
It's exactly what I expected it to be. I haven't built it yet, but I know it will not disappoint.

Great gift
Fantastic gift for a geeky friend, was simple and easy to build but interesting. Great price for what you get and stands up against it's competitors. It's fantastically crafted and matches the image and great on a display.

Saw a returned version for a nice discounted price on Amazon but sadly it got "lost in transport". A real shame as I was looking forward to building it. :(

I built the previous incarnation of this AMT Enterprise bridge back in the 90s. At that time, you only got Spock, Kirk and Sulu figures with it. From what I can tell, the bridge itself is exactly the same this time around, but they've upped the figure count to 6 bodies with 10 interchangeable heads. That still leaves you one bridge crew member short. Poor Chekov. At least they give you one female body and a nice sculpt of Uhura's head to put on it. Remarkably, while my model from the 90s is long gone, I found the 3 figures from that original model in my kit bit drawer and was able to make up a full bridge crew! The head sculpts from the original are FAR superior to the heads that come with the current kit. I can't tell if it's a matter of the molds getting worn out or just new, inferior sculpts. I chose to use my original Spock, Kirk and Sulu heads. i mixed and matched the bodies (no appreciable difference between the new and old ones) and finally got Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty AND Chekov onto the bridge. The model is generally well fitted. I only needed a bit of putty on the seams of the figures and was able to just glue and paint all the bridge components without any extra effort beyond filing a few edges. The one disappointment is the decals. They're amazing, visually, but the fit is lousy. The printed part fits nicely in the raised squares on the consoles, but the clear edges make EVERY decal too wide and you have to fiddle the edges down or trim the decals before applying to get a nice fit. You also need to file down the raised detail on the command chair and navigation console if you want to apply the decals rather than paint those details. It'd be nice if they'd included a smooth version of those parts as an option. I rated it a 5 star kit because it just looks so darned good when it's done. In fairness and as a builder, it's more like a 4 and a half.
