I make sure to lather soap onto it well before using it…. I put soap onto the tool, not just in my body. That way it slides easily over any sensitive areas.

can you put a washcloth in this to wash private areas in the shower?

Yes, but you do not need it. Just soap up the head and the head will clean the area just fine. Tissue or wipes on the head are for the commode use or applying medication to problem areas.

How do you clean the wand after use to keep it sanitary?

It's silicone so just use a bacterial soap and rinse with hot water. That works for me. I absolutely love this tool. It allows you to feel as clean as you get, when your mobility challenged.
