Can you use this on a slate patio? My patio only looks ok when it rains- rest of the time it’s a dull grey

I really don't know is the honest answer, I have used it on black limestone which had gone very dull and light grey but looked great when wet. This product has made a huge difference and now it looks "wet" all the time. It really does what it says, I was flabbergasted at just how it transformed my patio. The instuctions state made for black limestone but can be used on other tpyes of stone. I suggest contacting the manufacturer direct do see what they say or they may be able to send you a sample to try. £70 plus is an expensive price to pay for something that might not work as it semms to need a stone that it can "soak" into and I am not sure that slate is that pourous.

I put this on my patio yesterday so its now 24 hours but its still a bit tacky, unfortunately it did rain a bit in the night will this be ok?

It may be OK, depending on whether the Sealer was fully dry prior to being dampened by rain.

How many years will the effects last for?

About a year since off if one coat. I've just second coated mine. You can still see the difference after a year but it does fade. Plus general dust and leaves etc put a residue on to making it dirty. If you did two coats straight off I think it would last longer but it is an expensive product if you have a large area to cover twice .

Do you have to use a protector on top

I haven't used anything on top and the colour is the same as when I put it on the patio 4 months ago.
