What diameter is the inlet pipe ?

I honestly can't remember but I have non mains water (i.e. a private well) with VERY low water pressure so had a big problem finding a suitable item to cope with low water pressure. This model was the only one that worked and it has been fine for several years now. I imagine the inlet was either three quarters bsp or 22mm pipework. Posibly 15mm - whatever diameter pipe enters the cistern is the size to work from. Probably, on refelction 15mm but if it is a BSP (British Standard PIpethread) then that will determine the fitting. Suspect it will be a tank connector of some sort with BSP on one side and either 22mm or 15mm on the other. HM

Why does it hum after flushing

Good question. We had our plumber replace both this and the flush valve. Our cistern still 'chugs' like an engine usually after the short flush, long flush usually ok. We've had the plumber back 3 x times so far so we were wondering if our recently replaced flush valve is defective as we've noticed water trickling into the pan when it gets noisy? Getting to the point of replacing the whole toilet/cistern, its driving us mad!

Is this suitable for mains pressure fill.

We use it for mains pressure filling of our cistern. As previous comment it does seem very flimsy, but has worked ok so far!

I require the model without the plastic hoop at the water entry point, can you help

Sorry - I'm not really sure about this. Do you mean the white, circular lip towards the bottom of the water entry tube? If that's what you mean, it acts to seal the tube and the bottom of the cistern so is pretty crucial in order to avoid leakage. Can you give a bit more detail of what you are aiming to do, please?
