will this hub when plugged into router work on wireless devices?

This is not a hub. This is a switch. A hub is an older network device that is pretty much obsolete. It served a similar role to a switch but with much greater limitations. If you are asking whether you can connect wireless devices to this switch--asking whether this switch has wireless capabilities--the answer is no. If you are asking whether this switch can be plugged into a wireless router then the answer is yes. I hope you were able to come across the information you needed at the time you asked this question in order to meet your network needs.

Does it matter which port the router is connected to?

Yes it does. Documentation says to use port 5, but it's wrong. Use Port 1 for your router/internet. I tested speeds using both, Port 5 gave 98 Mbps, Port 1 gave 200 Mbps (full speed for my service).
