Sleepy Hollow [4K UHD]

This is a fantastic movie at a great price. Considering it has a lot of beheadings, it is not very gory. It is dark with muted color, and feels like a step back in time. It could be released today and still be great.

Good movie

Has the fun, strange charm of Burton in his prime. Well cast, plus a just a great spin on the classic story. I like to pull it out about every Halloween and it's held up really well.

Its got everything. Quirky goth style with magic. Eerie immersive setting. Brutal kills. Lots of action. Twisted plot with a murder mystery approach. Humor. Acting. It takes some logical leaps but for a film this engaging I'll happily give it a couple passes. Good on first watch. Better on second.

This brought back some memories. This was back before Depp became a one note actor, when he had actual depth and variety. The cast is great. The story is dark. Overall, it's a good movie.

Paramount Studios releases on 4K UHD and Blu-ray this superb 1999 adaptation of the Washington Irving novel "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane, here a forensic police detective in 1799 sent to the rural town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of decapitation murders committed by the Headless Horseman (played by Christopher Walken). Co-stars Christinna Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, and many others. Looking quite good in HD, an upgrade over the 2000 Paramount DVD, and the previous 2006 Blu-ray release, which has identical features from that disc (here dated 2019), though nothing new was added. I cannot presently view the UHD disc but will update when that changes. Previously filmed in animated form for Walt Disney in 1949, and TV in 1980, not to mention several children's records from the 1960's and 1970's, this version is R-rated with vivid scenes of sword-wielding head-chopping that make this stand out, though engrossing visuals and storytelling make it work.

Looks great and sounds great. I’m a big Burton fan and I think this is one of his greatest films. The cast is superb. Depp and Ricci at their very best. Miranda Richardson’s character and performance steals the show. Danny Elfman’s fantastic score is also one of his greatest to me. I’m new to 4K so all I can say is that it looked better than I’ve ever seen it before. I’m pleased.

Amazing movie..4k is marvellous..gory but great.. unmissable for the visual treat it offers.

This 4K transfer is much better than the blu ray version, especially the display of black color. (Consider this movie is pretty dark).
