Almost perfect (but read to the end for advice on charging)
I’ll start with the many things I really like about this unit and just add a few “things to know” towards the end, in case people have questions (like I did) that I couldn’t find answers to. Very impressed so far, especially with its build and how “quality” it feels. Although I was slightly surprised at size (more the diameter than the thickness), it’s not unwieldy and it is, as advertised, portable. However it would take up a pretty large space in a standard backpack, so but be aware. The unit otherwise feels impressively sturdy: the arm doesn’t wobble and the fan is surprisingly silent considering its high, good volume of airflow and and its four speeds which actually can take it from being soft and quiet to surprisingly powerful for a portable fan. Having assembled literally dozens of fans in my life, although I can say that none were difficult, I’d also say that they can at times be fiddly. Not the case here: this fan comes totally preassembled and in the carrying case, ready to be charged and used. That was another really nice surprise. The remote control is super useful in that it actually provides more granular options than the three physical buttons on the unit itself. To give you an example: on the unit, to increase the fan speed levels, you need to repeatedly press the “on” button and cycle through them. You can’t easily go up and down one level. The remote, however, has separate “plus and minus” buttons for speed. It feels like the makers of the unit intend for people to use the remote control to use it. And (it should be said) that you can always leave the remote magnetically attached into its groove on the unit and use it as if its buttons are physical buttons anyway. Just don’t lose the remote if you want to have the granularity to change speeds, etc, in the future. The light brightnesses are a pleasant warm yellowish hue instead of white, which I personally find more appealing but your mileage may vary. If you’re wondering if it’s good value for money given its high price, I’d say it definitely is. The unit feels like it costs a lot to manufacture considering its portability, accessories and the quality of the materials used. Even things which can traditionally be annoying with fans (like unscrewing small screws to remove the face plate in order to clean the blades) are made easier here because the he face plate has a simple, tool-less mechanism by which you twist it and remove it. The carrying case that comes with it is VERY welcome and is also high quality, as well as protective. And it contains a pocket for charging cables, etc, if you want to use it. I want to finish by talking about the three main questions I had before purchasing the unit which I couldn’t find answers to, in order to help anyone else who is asking themselves what the same things. 1. Can the fan be used while it’s charging? The answer according to the manual is “yes” - which is great. 2. One point to alert people to: the unit does come with two very welcome USB cables (one USB-C to A and one USB-C to C) *BUT* it doesn’t come with a charging brick. This leads to the following, which I found a bit frustrating and confusing: The instruction manual specifically cautions against charging the device using multi-USB adapters. It specially says to use an Apple or Android charger with a single USB port in it, but it doesn’t specify what power the unit can charge at. This means two things: you might either find an old charging brick which can only output up to 5 watts, which means the unit will take forever to charge. Or you might find a big charging brick (for a laptop for example) which may output 140w, which might least to concerns. The research I’ve done seems to show that the best type of charger for this is basically an iPad charger (the 27W PD type), so that’s pretty specific. To be clear, that doesn’t mean it won’t charge with any charger. It just means you might get dramatically different charging results depending on which charging brick you have at your disposal. 3. Even plugging an ideal charger into a standard extension cord is discouraged. The charging “suggestions” they give you are very specific and are designed to charge the unit in the best possible way, but be aware that you’re probably going to have to find a charging brick in one of your drawers or figure out the best of the ones you already have to use. My suggestion, if finances allow it, would be to just get a 27W single port USB-C (Power Delivery if possible) adapter from a reputable brand like Anker or Belkin if you use this fan a lot or plan on using it plugged-in on a reasonably constant basis. Provided the slightly finicky charging instructions don’t bother you however, this is a great unit that looks and acts as well - if not better - than advertised. I can see why it rarely gets returned to Amazon.

The best Fan!
This is the best fan! Small, lightweight and compact, but works like a much bigger one. I had it on for hours through the summer and the battery didn't die. I charged it every couple of days. The higher the speed, the louder it is, but it's not super noisy. Has a light on the base, but I haven't really used it. Love that it has the telescopic stand, so it can be used as a desk fan, or as a free-standing fan (to approx. 3ft). Also has a handy magnetic remote control that fits into a slot on the base. One of the big plusses for me was that it has a timer function, so you can go to sleep with it still on, but not have it working all night. Absolutely worth the money!

Don’t hesitate - you need this fan!
I bought this fan nearly a year ago, so this is truly a tried and tested review. Normally on reviews I give a long story with pros and cons, etc. I really don’t need to with this fan as I have absolutely no cons. I use this fan nearly all year round. It is super quiet and the flexibility of its height and rotation is perfect. The remote is an excellent added bonus for once you have it set up across the room - if it’s not quite aimed right at you, you can use the remote to oscillate it until you get the right aim. I set the fan up at night at my bedside and it stays on all night. With one charge, I get at least 3-4 nights before I have to charge it again. That’s an amazing battery life! It travels with me too in its little travel case. Dead easy to fold it down and pack it away and vice versa, with a handy wee spot for the remote (magnetic). I don’t often come back to products to review them so long after I purchased them…but this is an exception. BUY THIS FAN! You won’t regret it.

Poor build quality
Was great for the first year, but when I unfolded the fan today (gently) the hinge connecting the fan head to the stem snapped clean off. Just over a year old so nothing I can do about it now, they're quite costly for what they are so should be lasting more 17 months.

Good quality portable fan
The Venty fan is a brilliant. It’s cordless with decent battery life too. In this recent hot weather I left it overnight to keep our dog cool and it was still running in the morning. I like that it’s telescopic, so can be raised to a decent level. The remote shores neatly in the base and also oscillates and has a light. The included storage case is also good quality. I highly recommend.

A First Class Effective Fan
This is a first class product. It is compact but powerful with excellent features. It is very well designed. From the size of a medium sized round cake tin it can be extended upwards from the base to a height of about a metre using the extendable column, or simply used as a bedside fan and light. It is robust. It has travelled with us across the Atlantic and across the country. It comes in a sturdy attractive zip up container. It is pretty quiet but has 4 power settings. We have only really needed power settings one and two even from the end of the bed. There is a setting for it to sway, swivel, rotate from side to side and it has a lamp in the base with 3 degrees of intensity. There is a remote control too, if needed! All in all this is a very neat and effective fan and well worth the money

Great fan poor remote
Fantastic fan, great functions as well as being both powerful and quite. However the remote control does not function, this seems to be a common problem & I currently struggling to get a replacement without having to go through the hassle of returning the entire product.

Quite large, but genuinely brilliant portable fan
Travelling to the US this Summer, I knew our accommodation in Yosemite National Park didn't have air-conditioning, so I bought this to take. The hardcase for it is excellent quality but quite large, think a large baseball cap in size. The fan itself is well made, very powerful and well featured. The telescopic arm to adjust the height is brilliant, as you can have the fan on the floor by your bed, or on a bedside table, and you can angle it perfectly. The only real complaint is that you can't control how much oscillation it does; it'd be nice to have (like the Dyson fans) a 30/60/90/180 degree control for how much it oscillates, but I'm just being picky. The light function is gentle but helpful, if needing just a gentle light to go to the bathroom in an unfamiliar hotel room. The ability to charge your phone from it is handy in a pinch, and the remote is most helpful. I found the battery life was excellent, it'd easily handle 12hrs of use in a single charge, as I'd have it on all night and the whole morning while getting ready. But I'd leave it charging during the day while we were out. It might be pricy, but the Venty is genuinely the best portable fan I've ever used. I find myself using it at home too, as on more humid days I can just carry it around and enjoy a gentle breeze. No regrets on this at all.
