My cat can slip through the gap with no problem, but the door doesn’t open wide enough for anything larger. It’s a much cleaner solution than baby gates or wedging doors open with random objects. I also appreciate that it doesn’t damage the door or frame and can be removed easily if needed. The material feels durable, and after daily use it’s still holding up well. This is a really great product. It's so simple, easy to install, and works exactly how you'd hope. This company has two versions of the door buddy: 1. A soft strap version, which just sticks to the door and frame with strong adhesive. So it requires no tools at all to install, just takes a minute or two, and seems to hold very well. It can be removed without any damage. It does require you to lift and replace the latch each time you use the door. That means you have to remember to relatch it every time (and you have to trust other family members to relatch it...kids, husband, etc.). But, it also means you can fully close the door whenever you need to. 2. This version is a more rigid, plastic version. This one is also very easy to install. My six-year-old wanted to do it, so I let her, and she was able to install it easily (and had fun doing it). You just use a screwdriver to remove the door plate. Then you replace it with this product. Done. Now you can open and close the door with the doorknob just like you'd use any door. This one is very convenient because you don't have to remember to relatch anything (or trust anyone else in the house to remember). You just use the door as normal. The downside here is that you cannot close the door fully while this is installed. So, I have both versions of the product. Right now, I have an adult cat and a new kitten. I also have a dog, who likes to get into the litterbox, if given the chance (yuck). The cat's litterbox is in the laundry room. I have the rigid version on the laundry room door. It works great. When we added the kitten, we made a little space for her in the guest bathroom with her own litterbox in there. I bought the soft strap version. I don't love having to reattach it each time, but I needed to be able to fully close the bathroom door sometimes (so it can be a usable bathroom for humans, and also so I can sometimes close the kitten in there to keep her safe while we're gone). Anyway, I'm just really glad this product exists. It's such a simple, affordable device that solved a very practical problem.

Such a simple, easy, clever design. We have had cats for decades and typically, we cut a cat hole/door in whatever interiors house door leads to their litter boxes. We moved recently and the door leading to the basement is in a highly visible location. Plus, the doors are different than what we had in the past and we couldn't justify cutting them. We bought 2 of these- one for the basement door and one for a closet where the litter boxes are. They are super easy to install, adjust, and use without having to cut a door. They stay in place and are sturdy and secure, yet flexible. Definitely works for our situation. That being said, leaving the door ajar (versus a hole at the bottom) does let out more litter box smell, so this might not be the best option in every scenario- but it works for us and we are pleased with them. The only issue is that others that come to the house (and don't have pets), can't figure out what they are and how to use them- we have had contractors try to slam the doors shut- I could see these getting broken in those type of weird situations- no biggie. We bought an extra just in case.

This worked great for keeping my dogs out of the cats litter box without having to install an expensive and time consuming cat door. Easy to install and is adjustable.But only gets a 4 star for being a little fragile, it was my fault it broke but still could have been a stronger plastic.

Easy to install, had it up a few months and no issues. Very strong and keeps our medium-large dog out and let's our cats in the door to their food. Latches when we walk out, I dont have to really think about it. I chose this vs the strap type products that are similar because of the worry of cats getting squished in the door. Since this holds it stable, no worries or injury

It works good it was easy to install. You can adjust the gap size for the door. The best part is the cats can get in and out with no issues and it keeps the dog from getting into the cat food and litter box.

Functionally, it does *exactly* what I want: keep the door open about 6 inches. It was easy to install, too. The problem is that a thin bit of plastic sticks out into where people walk. After just 9 weeks, I bumped into it a bit two hard, and it cracked. Would be much better if it were made of sheet metal. I haven't decided whether I'm buying another one, since it's kind of expensive for the fragility.

Works very well to keep my dog out of the laundry/litter room. It was also very easy to install, but it tends to extend easily out of the spacing you set it at. With that said, my medium size dog still cannot get through the door space and I liked this product better than their strap version I’ve had in the past as it causes less door damage and is easier to lock.

Good however wish could close the door still.

I can’t believe there are actually reviews on here that are less than 5 stars! It’s design of perfect in every day. It is the simplest install and most effective way to limit access to areas for pets, etc. without closing off the area. When my pup was small, I made the opening small so only the cats could fit, and as my pup got bigger, I opened the hatch bigger to give the cats more space to get through. It’s a high quality item and keeps my very strong, 70 lb American Bully out of the cats designated space. And I’m very picky when it comes to how well household items function - and I genuinely can’t find one possible improvement for this item. When I ordered it, I thought “it’s pretty expensive for what you get”, but I was very wrong. Great bang for your buck with this item! Highly recommend!

Easy to install but dog learned how to push through and open the door in less than a day

this is an abracadabrafantasticoawesome product !!! plus, it was installed within a few minutes. we love it, the cat loves it, the baby doesn't but he's why we got this gizmo :):) we give it 25 stars !

Works perfect to let my cats go downstairs to use their litterbox, without keeping the door wide open or worrying about it closing while I'm not home, easy to install, and still allows the door to be fully closed when you want it to be.
