The Liqui Moly Rust Solvent XXL really lives up to its reputation. It works quickly to loosen stubborn, rusted bolts and seized parts that normal sprays can’t handle. A quick spray, a short wait, and most corroded fittings start to move with ease it’s that effective. The 600ml can is generous and lasts a long time, even with regular use. The spray nozzle gives a strong, precise stream, so it’s easy to apply exactly where you need it without waste. It also leaves behind a light protective film that helps prevent new rust from forming. Bought this as well as WDs penetrant spray which I used to soak all the suspension nuts & bolts on my E39 M5 before I started doing the suspension overhaul Used this Liqui Moly spray when I set off to attack the suspension and it works superbly; everything came undone with zero issues; quite a bit of the suspension was original (so 24 years old)!

In my experience it works, and I am servicing a couple of ageing sports cars within the family. It is quite a large spray bottle whose only fault is lack of a straw. So you have to spray the penetrant all over the work area. This product is clearly not an urban myth, but rather an example of high-tech chemical engineering. It is by far superiour to 3-in-1 oil and WD40 water dispersant, and roughly belongs to the top tier of penetrants alongside with PlusGas and "WD40 Penetrant" (not to be confused with generic WD40). How much it helps to remove a seized fastener depends on whether it actually gets under the head of the bolt and in the thread or not. It is hit and miss, because the gap may be completely sealed by the head of the bolt. If it gets though, then the job becomes significantly simpler. It becomes extremely useful when you are undoing a bolt, it turns a little and stops due to being jammed with corrosion in the thread. Then just add more penetrant and wiggle the bolt both ways. Then you will feel the fluid dissolving the rust, getting more movement, and eventually the bolt starts turining. Do not apply it to the bolt when tightening as it will increase by about 30% the clumping force for the same amount of torque. This may snap the bolt, stretch it or damage its thread, because the manufacturers provide the torque numbers for dry fasteners.

Effective in helping to remove rust from some rusted tools. Use steel wool as well with this product.

Superb rust dissolving spray. Works to free up siezed components. Large tin so lots of use before replacement and also works well even when used at unusual angles. Perfect for car maintenance of underframe components. Used most recently for track rod ends and after treating the threaded rod over several days was able to release the locknut and rotate without having to resort to applying heat from a brazing torch.
