Amazon delivered the generator in a large box and it was pretty easy to unbox it and assemble the generator - instruction manual is are pretty easy to follow. Everything you need to prep it is included, including tools and oil. You just need gasoline or a propane tank. It took me about 20 minutes to unbox and assemble the unit. Adding oil is fairly straightforward - it just takes slow and careful repeated filling using the little "bent-elbow" funnel and checking levels to get enough oil in (but not too much). Once everything was done I added about a half tank of fresh gasoline, turned the little gasoline delivery switch to flow (on the side of the unit), checked that everything was ready, turned on the power and hit the Start button. However while it would crank it simply would not turn over and run. I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked everything (even checked spark plug gap)... but I just couldn't get the unit to run. I finally gave up for the weekend and moved on to other chores. A couple of weekends later I called up the Westinghouse help line number in the manual -- while waiting on a call back I set the generator back up, went thru everything and hit the start button. This time the generator fired up instantly. When I eventually spoke with the technician (very friendly and knowledgeable, btw) he said that a very very small number of units get something in the carburetor stuck as a result of sitting for a long period of time after shipping out of the factory -- I guess they drain the gasoline but somewhere in the carb residual gasoline seizes something in the carb that prevents any gasoline from getting thru. But when a customer gets the unit and adds gasoline in the tank that gasoline slowly "eats away" at whatever that residue had seized up and eventually frees it. So, if this happens to you (everything is done correctly but the unit won't start) just let the generator sit for a few days and that may solve the problem. And their help line techs seem fantastic and I only waited about 10 minutes to get a hold of one. So I haven't actually needed the generator in a real storm or power outage situation yet, but running the unit for a bit and testing a few things has me feeling comfortable that I'm ready should we get a power outage. I haven't played with the remote start button but I don't see me needing to use that (you have to keep the generator turned on which will drain the battery). I can see running this in the dark that it might be nice to have some sort of light on the panel -- I'm thinking of using one of those goose-neck LED lights (or a pair) that are usually used on grills. I'm also looking at something like GenTent to cover the generator in the event that I'm running it while it's raining or snowing. All in all, a very nice generator with plenty of power, easy start (minus the gasoline seizing issue) and operation, nice built-in handle to maneuver it, and I like the duel fuel option if/when it's needed.

Bought the wgen7500dfc as a propane 6750/8550 watt replacement and upgrade for my 6000/8250 watt gasoline generator. The dual fuel option would allow running on gasoline if for some reason propane is not available. The generator would be used outside so the CO monitor was unnecessary; I would have preferred a generator without one but at the time this was the only model available. After setup, tried the following features: battery start, remote start, recoil start, propane fuel, gasoline fuel, 120V and 240V outlets. Everything worked. I was impressed that the owner's manual contained not only intelligible detailed instructions, but also exploded parts diagrams for every part of the generator, and a wiring diagram. According to my experience, finding such documentation means finding a high quality product. I unbonded the neutral from the frame. This was made difficult by a short jumper cable but still doable. The manual called for an initial 5 hour runtime during which load should not exceed 50% of capacity, so did a simulated house power failure for 5 hours during which the generator powered lights, freezer, refrigerator, computers, a single stove burner, varying the load. With this load, about one pound of propane was used every 30 minutes. I later powered a 1 HP well pump, then a water heater with 4500w elements. The only significant problem I ran into was that my Maruson UPS objected to the generator power input, frequently going to battery power, apparently because the generator power frequency was too high, as high as 63.8 Hz. For anyone having the same problem: it is possible to adjust the frequency although not described in the owner's manual. See the picture of the adjustment screw. I adjusted the screw counterclockwise in small steps until the VFT meter (use the mode button to display frequency) showed a range of 59.8 to 60.4 Hz. I didn't hear the UPS complain after this.

First things first, the generator. It took me no more than 15 minutes to assemble what little there was to assemble. Installation of two wheels, two support legs, pour in oil, hook up to propane tank, connect battery, flip a couple switches, and start. Really very easy setup and it started on the first attempt. The noise level didn't sound much louder than a lawn mower, but noise level wasn't much of a concern of mine, nor did I consider it in my selection of which generator to buy. I mean it's got a 430cc engine, it's only going to be so quiet. Yes, it is heavy, but the padded handle, which is pre-installed, along with it being on wheels, made it easy to move around. How the generator performs over the long haul has yet to be determined, but it's off to a great start. Now about delivery. The funny part is, the generator was delivered on time and placed inside my garage, as requested. However, I kept receiving text messages from the carrier saying they attempted delivery and could not contact me, so delivery failed, this happened three times. I finally had to go to the carrier's website and confirm through "live chat" that I wanted it delivered on the day and in the time frame I asked for when I bought it. They also confirmed that a delivery was never attempted, just needed my confirmation. I suggested they change the message in the text to reflect that. I spent a long time on the phone with Amazon customer service and then the Carrier's website, for no good reason, I almost canceled the whole thing because of the confusion over the carrier's "failed delivery" messages. In the end, the delivery was on the day I requested it and within the three-hour delivery window. The guys who delivered it were great. I do recommend this generator, but if you get confusing text messages saying delivery attempted and you know it wasn't, well, now you know what's going on.

All the previous reviews I read were fairly accurate. This is well designed and fully featured generator that started easily with one pull after setting the choke manually. Once up and running, it produced ample clean power to run the furnace, fridge, freezer, lights in many rooms, computer, and internet. I had a 30 amp / 7500 watt outdoor generator plug installed with a sliding metal gate in the main breaker box downstairs, and it worked the first time as my electrician left very concise directions on how to set everything up in the event of a main power loss. Pros: *Well designed *Good quality *Runs as advertised *Easy to move with handle *Great value for the price Cons: *As noisy as any generator, even at 20 ft away. Your neighbors will love it. *Exhaust smell, and likely CO production, is quite evident. I would not run this generator within 15 feet of any air intake to the house, and certainly never in the garage nor indoors. *User Manual (07501Rev01) is slightly out of date. The starter motor battery terminal wire hookup is different than the images, and only afterwards did I discover the quick connect battery terminals tucked behind the service panel. The manual says to connect the terminal wires to the battery post. But since they were already done, I assumed the factory had already connected the battery. Not true! Find the quick connect terminals and you'll be all set. Also, the schematics for the data center on the panel don't match the manual. There's an extra tool icon on the panel, which I assume will display service information at appropriate times. Otherwise, it will just cycle from voltage to current to running time since last start. *Shipper damaged my carton and there were scuff marks and paint missing on part of my frame, only cosmetic damage - see photos. The box arrived with an open top, box damage, and the user manual package was laying loose in the delivery truck. An inventory of parts revealed I had everything except the remote FOB. Later said FOB was located attached to the rope of the pull starter. Final tip: Buy an appropriate cable if needed, but save your money in buying a cover. You'll get one for free when you register your warranty online with Westinghouse and write a public review.

Awesome! Works great. Can power a fridge, fans (or heaters) & even a TV. It got us through a 9 day power outage in Houston, mid summer in extreme heat (temps over 100°). We had borrowed this exact one from my mother in law. Loved it & it worked so well that we immediately bought this one. I strongly recommend this product! It probably wont do great for a large home, or a large family, unless you all stay in one room. Great value & it actually looks nice! Not too bulky & not overly loud.

We lose power several times per year with durations from a few hours to several days. So we had a gasoline powered 7500 Watt manual start generator with electrician installed transfer switch for years. I often work out of town now and my wife indicated she was no longer comfortable dealing with gasoline refueling and the pull start since shoulder repair surgery. My research showed the Westinghouse unit seemingly alone in offering this unique combination of traits: 1) Remote key fob start/stop. 2) Dual Fuel 3) Electric start 4) Automatic choke 5) Good reviews 6) Higher than gas only, but reasonable price for wattage/dual fuel rating it offers. When I considered where to purchase the unit, Amazon Prime came to the top for: a) Free delivery to my house. b) I easily combined Amazon gift cards, American Express Points, and my AMEX credit card toward the purchase with no hassle. c) Return policy. Delivery: No damage and literally everything in the box I needed to setup (attach wheels, connect battery cables, add supplied oil). Setup in 15 minutes or less and I am no techy nor mechanic. Performance: Starts every time in all weather/temperatures. Ran well through winter, summer (4th of July!), and fall power outages (2 just last week). It will vary for many folks but I get 10-11 hours on 20lb propane tank running lights/internet PC/well pump/furnace/water heater/microwave convection oven/TV/etc. I like the option for gasoline but have not run it on gasoline and hope never to if I can avoid it. Heavy unit >200lbs yet I easily move it even up/down steps alone via supplied wheels and foldaway handle. Wish list/caveats: User manual indicates no larger than 20/30lb propane tanks be used. Would be nice if say 100lb tank could be used to cut down on tank swaps. Would be nice if remote key fob did everything to start, but you do need to ensure "RUN/STOP" switch at unit is set to RUN ahead of time for fob to work, but this has not been an issue for us. Seems to be limitation of 'portable generators' in general vs this unit, but wish it could be attached to automatic-transfer-switch so it would start even if I was not home. I cannot comment on customer service as I have not needed any assistance with the unit at this point. Bottom line: If you seek the combination of features offered you will not regret this purchase. We are pleased.

Summary - This is an excellent generator for its size and output. While heavy and moderately loud, that's unavoidable with generators of this size and this one is no worse than most of its contemporaries. With a solid 3 year warranty and excellent documentation to facilitate future repairs even long after the warranty has expired, if you need to power a worksite, a small residence or a workshop, this generator has solid run-time on a full tank of unleaded gasoline and a full array of easy to use hook-ups and operational features. I couldn't ask for more out of a generator of this size and at this price point. Pros - * Very powerful - you could feasibly power a small residence with this thing. I'm using it to power a small workshop and it will handily run all the lights, hand tools and standing tools any two or three people could use simultaneously. * Compact and maneuverable for its power - The wheels that come with it are good and nearly effortless to install, as are the front end's stand feet. The flex handle has a foam comfort grip that makes it easy to tow and pivot this thing around as required. * Solid Fuel Efficiency - with a 6 gallon tank, I'm expecting to realistically get 10-12 hours of total runtime during long, busy days when this generator will be carrying heavy loads. Hard to beat that for this overall class and output of generator. * Ease Of Use - The instructions that come with this thing are clear and easy to follow. The quick start guide is useful and accurate, and the owner's manual includes a full breakdown of parts, a circuit schematic for how the power routing inside the generator is set up and an exploded map of the generator's hardware; virtualy everything a small gas engine repair worker could hope for when, down the road, this thing might need a tune-up or some repairs. ***KEEP THE OWNER'S MANUAL ACCORDINGLY*** This kind of documentation is invaluable to repair workers, and if you have this generator for 10 ,15, 20 years and somewhere down the line need the piston replaced or some of the internal wiring dry rots out or whatever? This kind of documentation could be the difference between having to scrap your generator because nobody knows what parts it needs and being able to fix it for a lot cheaper than buying a new one will ever be. Cons - * Very Heavy - I estimate that this thing weighs ~150ish lbs. Once the wheels are on it's pretty easy to pull around by the handle, but if you have to get it up stairs or onto the back of a truck, you better have two strong people available for that job. A single person carting this thing up or down stairs or loading/unloading it onto a truck bed/similarly elevated placement is not going to be a good idea. * Moderately Loud - It's a generator, so if you didn't expect this, you're new to this kind of thing. Westinghouse has done a pretty remarkable job with the muffler they put on this thing, but it still sounds like having a powerful lawnmower running wherever you've parked it. Plan accordingly, and if you've got neighbors near your work space that are easily bothered by such noise, you'd do well to plan for dealing with that too - it's about as quiet as a generator of this size can realistically be, but that still means it's loud enough that you'll want to be using ear protection if you're near it while working for any length of time. Protect your hearing around this and similar things. You never get that back when you start losing it. Edit: Had it a year, still going strong. No problems. We cover it with a tarp when not in use, but the tarp has blown off during storms, and we've had no issues. We get about 12 hours of power out of one tank. Running two space heaters on one circuit did trip the breaker, but it has two separate circuits, (plus a third 220v) so we just moved one of the space heaters. It didn't trip when running the heater and a miter saw. (plus lights), but did trip again with a heater and shop vac on the same circuit.

bought the generator a few months ago, we moved and just unboxed. Put together ahead of winter storm headed our way this weekend. haven't used but started instantly. Everything works. Very easy to put together. Alot Quieter than expected.

The generator came a little later than promised, but everything was made good by the shipper. As for the actual generator and how it runs, it was a dream to start! The remote is a great function, although I wish I had longer propane lines. Great purchase, not a drop of regret!

This generator seemed amazing at first when we first set it up and did the 5h break-in recommended by company. Such great features with the dual fuel and remote start along with great power output for a decent price. Also generlink compliant. HOWEVER, a couple months later, despite being plugged in the whole time, we really needed it due to a power outage and very cold temperatures (-20C) and it wouldn't start!!! My partner is very mechanically adept and could not figure out at all what was wrong with it so we just assumed too cold and left it for a milder day to try again. Now it is even worse with the remote start and push start not even trying to power it up and pull cord is useless too. We got a dead donkey. Not impressed at all!!!!
