They bleed the land and oppress the citizens with the frightful powers they inherited from the god locked under their palace. But that god cannot be contained forever. With the aid of Jun, a guard broken by his guilt-stricken past, and Keema, an outcast fighting for his future, the god escapes from her royal captivity and flees from her own children, the triplet Terrors who would drag her back to her unholy prison. The journey ahead will be more dangerous than any of them could have imagined. Both a sweeping adventure story and an intimate exploration of identity, legacy, and belonging, The Spear Cuts Through Water is an ambitious and profound saga that will transport and transform you—and is like nothing you’ve ever read before. Review: Great - One of the most beautiful book I owned. It was on my TBR for so long that my father gifted me this one. But I should have waited for the sale :( Review: Very good audiobook - ***minor spoilers about the tone of the ending*** This book almost pulled 'The Hero of Ages' at me. I was screaming till I wasn't. Thank youuuuuu for not making me read the ending in a haze of tears!!! Anyway, this is the best book I've read in a while. The writing style, the story, the narrative style, the characters, they were all amazing. It's a bit confusing in the beginning but it pays off tenfold if you stick with it. The tortoise 🐢 phones reminded me of Den Den Mushi 🐌Loved Jun and Keema so much that when the story went on a tangent near the end, I almost lost it! The audiobook was beautifully narrated.

Beautiful
This book is pure art. It was hard to understand the style for the first few pages, but I wasn't bored for a second, and at no point could I have predicted what was going to happen next.

Good story, terrible book
The story of the book is not what I am talking about. It is the book itself. Very poor quality cover and even worse page quality. I've seen better quality newspapers. Yes, it is a paperback but the cover is so thin, it was barely ok when it came to me but it was drowning from the warmth of my hands while reading. Now the cover is bending all the other ways but flat. It has a really good cover art too. Sorry for the Author and the cover artist, they deserved better.

I’m partially disappointed
The story is good like really good. But the literal book is so disappointing, the cover is literally normal paper thick and the pages are bible paper thin! I’m so disappointed because I really love this book and I wanna enjoy it but—if you’re someone like me and you take special care of your books, it’s really hard because I have to be extra careful so not to rip it and oh the small font makes it even worse! PS: the rating is for the literal book and that only!
