Just what I needed for foot care. The smallest things become strangely challenging with age. I can see since my cataracts were removed, but am limited by the fixed focal length of the implanted lenses. Complicating matters I still must wear bifocals to get satisfactory close vision & sharp distant vision -- everything in life really is a compromise. Since my spine has lost a lot of flexibility, it's increasingly difficult to bend over for foot care & stiffer hips & knees don't help. The combined effects of limited joint & back mobility mean I can barely get my eyes close enough to my feet for adequate foot care. And even if could, I can't focus on my toenails. Aarrrgh! And the downside of neglected foot care or botched nail care are pretty terrible. This marvelous device solves that problem. Unlike the magnifiers on headbands which are used for close up work (needlework, electronics, etc.), this large stable magnifier rests on a flat surface & can be any distance from the user's face. The lens is situated about 4" above whatever h@s to be magnified. There's room to sneak a hand or tool in too. The light is bright. It folds up easily into a compact flat package & comes with a soft fabric storage bag. It's lightweight & would pack easily into a suitcase or briefcase. It runs in 3 AAA batteries which I prefer over the cheap USB cords that get lost & crummy lithium batteries which don't hold a charge. The Fresnel lens employed may be unfamiliar to some but this one is very high quality (the best I've seen) & no doubt was chosen as the best solution to achieve high quality optics at an affordable price with a lightweight plastic lens. It serves the purpose well. I shared this info with my MD because I'm sure she has other senior patients who need this. No more expensive trips to the podiatrist for me.

Lightweight plastic. Well made, fresnel lens for better and overall focus. It's size is very stable, but does wobble a bit putting it on a large book, like a Bible. Focus is good across the entire fresnel lens and is comfortable and lightweight to hold without the frame. Light brightness is adjustable 3 ways and also works well. Bought this to magnify print in a Bible that is 3 or 4 print size. Price is good. Would buy again and I recommend this.

This would have got four five stars but the first one the lights would not stay on and of course you need them to view something when it's dark. But I thought the magnification was superb so I returned the that one and they sent me another one in the lights work fine with the the new one. They also have a version that has a USB I would strongly suggest this for someone who has a lot of eye troubles like me I had a stroke and this is helping me read a book again

Works like advertised. Fairly easy to put together (read the directions). Nice light with three different light settings and within each setting you can adjust the brightness. This will be a welcome addition to our diamond painting. It’s easy to use, a great value for the price, and the magnification is fine. I was a bit worried it wouldn’t be enough, but it is great.

The VIEWABLE lens space is 4.25" x 7" which, for studying textbooks is not practical. The lens is supposed to be high quality, but it's like any page-size bendable magnifier : it has concentric rings, which can distort the outer edges of your field of view. The frame is very flimsy and you have to 'click' it a LOT to get it into some usable position. By then, you wonder if the 'clicking' over and over will easily wear down. The sides don't move in tandem; you have to keep moving one side then the other to keep them level with each other. Requires 3 AAA batteries (not included). I had to put them in/out several times before the lights would even turn on. A short 'pop' to the on/off button will work, but HOLDING the on/off will NOT work. There are 3 light levels and the brightest is quite bright. I like the 3rd one - the blue light. It provides illumination but is easy on my eyes. I'll use it because I bought it and I can't find anything wrong with it. But it's disappointingly cheap and doesn't magnify entire pages of my textbooks as I need (and I've tried hanging it from the top of the book, etc.). Since I also do artwork - and some of it is quite fine and up close - I can see using this as a hands-free magnifier for artwork. Again, it's not great quality because it's not glass. I'll find a use for it.

Great size, 3 different brights light, great magnification and clarity. Stand is awesome for using both hands for crafts. Great price and value.

Perfect for us older people like me that need some help when working up close and personal with electronics. I thought all was lost when I started to teach myself how to put together circuits on a breadboard but this device came to the rescue. It not only magnifies but lights up the area. The best thing is it has different lighting settings so you can choose what is best for the job and the surroundings. I highly recommend this to everyone who needs a little bit of assistance.

Easy to setup and use, let's me read handwritten letter easily. It's lightweight but the included stand makes weight even less of an issue. I'm losing some of my vision and this magnifier let's me read effortlessly again.

After putting in the batteries, I took a moment to realize where the switch was: it's the same as the dimmer wheel ... turn until it clicks off... Surprisingly distortion free across the field of view. I've grown up expecting Fresnel lenses to be OK in the middle of the field, but drops off legibility away from it. This is fairly flat all the way to the edge. It's very lightweight, which is what you need when holding it for any length of time, hence it's plastic. But looks smart. Very effective. The lights are variable, but not vital unless in poorly lit up area. So you can save on batteries for using them only when necessary. Being LED's I expect a very long life out of the batteries. All in all, a very good purchase. Well worth the money. Just a quick postscript: It is distortion free if held at the recommended distance, go further out and the image distorts. Keep it at 2"-4" (5-10cms max)

I will try to make this review easier to read by summarizing my likes and dislikes (more appropriately called "room for improvement" because they are not deal breakers for me). Likes: 1) The magnifier does not distort the text you are reading. This makes reading a pleasant experience. 2) The larger reading area helps improve my reading experience. 3) The LED lights work great at the highest setting (but I have more comments on this below). 4) The magnifier is very light even when using it with three batteries. 5) This came with a free lens cleaning cloth. I also got a free ruler/magnifier, which is very useful when you are on the go (e.g. reading food labels while in a supermarket). 6) The magnifier can also be used without turning on the LED light if you have enough lighting in your reading area. Dislikes ("room for improvement"): 1) I wish that the handle is a little larger. I also prefer to have a handle on both sides to give people the option to hold the magnifier with two hands for better balance. 2) I mentioned above the the LED lights work great at the highest setting. However, the lighting is not bright enough for reading when you are using the "in between" settings. Before buying this magnifier, I got the impression that the lighting can be used in 2 to 3 brightness settings but that was not what I experienced. 3) I wish that the magnifier came with a cloth bag for storage (or give us an option to buy a carrying case). My concern is that the lens can easily get scratched if you leave it lying around when not using it. Overall, I give this magnifier 4.5 stars based on my comments above. I will round it up to 5 stars for purposes of this review because I am happy with the magnifier overall. I strongly recommend it for people who have a hard time reading smaller texts.
