I found this book full of good information. Unfortunately, my daughter no longer has her box turtle.

Great book gives you a good insight into having Red Ear Sliders as pets. How you care for them. And what to feed them.

Perhaps I'm being unfair but this is information and I do and wanted information it's just very dry and absolutely unfun for my first time introduction to the red ear sliders . We rescued these two little turtles and needed a complete grasp of their needs and step by step walk to set them up and take care of their needs while we learn more. This is information but for us it's like a library your not going to return to . Few photos and written semi clinical and I guess we were just looking for as much fun as the turtles behavior is

I collect these kinds of books as I raise box turtles and have a tortoise as well.

Very helpful if you're a first time turtle parent. Would recommend.

Nice reference for beginners

I like books that have a lot of pictures and this one does not.

but I didn't know it needed such complicated needs. This book helped me care for my RES a lot better. I definitely think this is the best pet book. Worth the price.

The most annoying thing about this book: keeps telling the reader to do further research on pretty much every topic. I bought a specialised book so it would tell me everything I need to know about caring for a red ear turtle! How very poor. And doesn’t cover the chemistry of the water. Secondly, it’s so badly written, it’s unreal. It also repeats basic information over and over and never describes the turtles needs a in detail. Absolutely useless

This book says Box Turtles do not make the best breed of turtle for homes with children, however - we know people who raise box turtles, and they are very gentle with children.
